Suzuki Splash & Vauxhall Agila

Recommended Posts

And they also share the engines, I suppose...I like the Agila it has better styling than the Splash.. Wonder how Maruti is going to position the Splash...it looks like the Swift has had a facelift...Durango Dude2008-03-27 03:29:30

This is bound to happen. GM owns the Vauxhall brand  and has a good stake in Suzuki Motors, Japan. Also GM owns a stake in Fiat, Italy. Thats how the Fiat 1.3 L multijet has landed under the bonnet of the Swift and Dzire.

The small cars in the GM stable were engineered by Suzuki as part of the tie-up. The tie-up has since fallen thru, while they have parted ways, they have said they will remain friends (!!). The small car engineering job for GM is now being done by Daewoo (GM-DAT).

Its not a facelift or a copy.

GM & Suzuki are like some kind of partners. Opel and Vauxhall are GM's. So Opel, Vauxhall & Suzuki is using the design of this car. Vauxhall and Opel tweaked the car a bit and then had applied their own engines and features.

Ref: In some countries the Chevrolet Optra/Daewoo Nubira can be seen as the Suzuki Forenza. This can explain that these cars are not copied or facelifted.

It is all about leveraging niche skills and other assets.

In the south of Japan (Hiroshima side) , where Suzuki is an unknown entity, the Wagon R is sold under the Mazda brand name!!
