VET5 0 Report post Posted April 26, 2019 Looks like we finally have confirmation that the Toyota-badged Baleno will be called "Glanza". A teaser for the same has just been released, showing the Glanza's rear right fender, which confirms same alloy wheels as the Maruti Suzuki Baleno for the model, but with Toyota badging. Autocar India recently reported that the Glanza will be sold in two variants upon launch. It will come with a 1.2-litre petrol engine mated to either a 5-speed manual or CVT, mostly on the top-spec trim. You can find more info on that here: https://www.autocarindia.com/car-news/toyota-badged-baleno-to-be-sold-in-two-variants-412448

ksgulyani 4 Report post Posted May 7, 2019 Glanza is for people who say Maruti build quality is not upto the mark Jokes aside, Badge engineering hasn’t really worked in India. At least till now. This would be interesting to see as till now both companies who partnered had low sales individually. Here it is the opposite. This is more of a test for Toyota than Maruti as later is a constant 50%+ market share leader. I particularly like the fact that both cars are exactly the same except badging (true badge engineering). This would retain the qualities of the top selling car no matter from where it retails. One would always consider it to be Baleno.

VET5 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2019 Launched! Toyota has the Glanza from Rs 7.22 lakh for the G MT variant to Rs 8.90 lakh for the V CVT. Interestingly, the base Glanza variant, which has the mild-hybrid petrol engine, undercuts the equivalent variant of the Baleno (The prices are, however, introductory). Here are some highlights from the event: You can head here for to know more about what features, safety kit and creature comforts are on offer with each variant of the Glanza: https://www.autocarindia.com/car-news/toyota-glanza-variants-explained-412997
VET5 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2019 Here's a detailed look at the Glanza inside and out:
sachins 51 Report post Posted June 6, 2019 I am quite surprised by Glanza's pricing, specially the MT variants. They have undercut equivalent Baleno variant's pricing also. Price wise: Glanza G MT (7.22 lacs) = Baleno Delta Dualjet (7.25 lacs) But Equipment Wise: Glanza G MT = Baleno Zeta Dualjet (7.87 lacs) So in effect if you buy Glanza G MT, you are getting Baleno Zeta variant at the price of Delta variant. AMG1 0 Report post Posted June 7, 2019 Yes. Toyota's put in a googly here.. by pricing cheaper than Baleno for some variants.
ksgulyani 4 Report post Posted June 7, 2019 Toyota has played well here. This will create a great image for badge engineering in India. Also Toyota said prices are introductory. Well if you see G AT, V MT and V AT. These variants have identical pricing to Zeta AT, Alpha MT and Alpha AT. These include 1.2 K12B engine. As you mentioned @sachins, G MT is where Toyota has played their trump card. G MT price has really shocked us because it packs K12C Hybrid engine and is 65 K cheaper than Baleno MT K12C Hybrid. (7.22 vs 7.87 lakhs). This is even cheaper than Delta K12C (7.25 lakhs). Kudos to Toyota. So Buy a Baleno (since it has discounts and Toyota says these prices are introductory). Baleno with EW will offer same package as Glanza with Maruti's service network. BUT BUT BUT... If you are buying Baleno Hybrid.... Buy Toyota Glanza. That's my opinion!
