Remer
I am planning to buy a car around June or July I am looking for a car around the Rs 6lacs mark Thgs that I want in my car as follows (priority wise) 1. Interior space leg room and room to seat more people 2. Ride quality & quality of interiors 3. Fuel Efficiency 4. Performance I dont have any issues going for diesel or going for a hatchback(though hatchbacks have less interior space than the sedans). I have shortlisted the following cars Chevrolet U-Va(think it has decent interiors & seating comfort) Renault Logan diesel( for interior space ride quality and mileage) Swift Dzire diese but not sure whether it will be within my budget(for everything the Swift stands for) Things about which I need clarification on about the above mentioned cars are Chevrolet U-Va- need to know about its mileage & maintenance cost & reliability Renault Logan- About the Mahindra- Renault partnership how long its gonna last and what if they break up ( nobody seems to think about this problem at all) the part availability service etc. Swift Dzire - Petrol version mileage I also need to know about the driver seats of these cars I am quite tall (6' ) so under thy support and leg room is very important for me since I might take it for long drives once a while. I dont want to end up with a dead leg after a while of driving If you guys have any other cars to suggest pls do feel free to mention those too.. Thanks in advance
AdityaM
There should not be a major difference in the mileage of the Swift and the Dzire, since the vehicle wts are not much different. Re the Logan, I am sure Mahindra is commited enough to ensure spares and service even if the deal falls thru. They have a reputation to maintain! Waise, given your list of requirements, the Logan is not a bad option.
Remer
Yep I do think the Logan is a good one considering my requirements if looks are not a consideration. Is there any maintenance issue with it. How about the Mahindra service.
AdityaM
Anyways, given the wait list, a Dzire in June may be tough!!
Remer
Still cant digest the look of Dzire after seeing the swift for so long its like a swift with SX4's butt attached to it
Remer
Any comments on the U-Va i thought it was decent car
Rajeevraj
I think the top end dzire petrol will be slightly beyond your budget.(Around 6.5 laks on road). And the major disadvantage that has been pointed out in Dzire is still the cramped rear seats. Milage should be same as swift as it is only 30Kg heavier than the swift I think comfortable seating for 5 is best in Logan and UVA. From experts in this forum what i have learnt is that a diesal makes sense only if you travel around 20000KM per year.
Remer
Now the fabia 1.2 has come out with 5.1 for the base model initial comments in autocar isnt favourable looks like its way over priced. Any idea how much the Dzire VDi or Ldi would cost on road
aks316
you can go for aveo 1.4 base model.. the on road price in delhi is 6.50L without discount.. from your choice if you can digest the looks and cramped rear seat then go for desire.. if you dont care about resale then go for aveo uva or logan.. Remer
Mileage will be a little low on the U-Va I guess and how about the driver seat
Remer
btw I am not looking at resale value at all coz we plan to use the car for quite sometime by which time any car wud have depreciated considerably
Geforce
Hi, out of the three cars that u've listed, the Logan would be the right choice. It can comfortably seat 5 and also returns a decent mileage. If you can do with the boxy looks, then go for it. The other car I would suggest is the Hyundai Getz Crdi. Its got the best engine in its segment and is quite roomy too. Since you are not particular of buying a sedan, this car is stands a good chance. The Swift and the Dezire are modern cars, but they lack interior space which I understand, is a priority for you. As you mentioned, Mahindra and Renault have already withdrawn their partnerships. There wont be any future MahindraRenault cars, though the Logan would be produced and serviced by Mahindra. 'I want the other members to correct me if I am wrong.' Remer
Howz the service from Mahindra. I have driven the Getz for tall people the driver seat is too low and absolutely no under thy support after a while legs start aching other than its roomy it has really good pickup and all tht but way too difficult for me to drive for too long its like sitting in a ditch for me. I have driven the 1.3lt one petrol dont thk the seating changes btwn the models either.
Remer
Thk the Logan, U-Va or the new Fabia 1.2 need to wait for feedbacks on that; no idea about its interior space mileage and all tht . Swift as everybody said is too cramped but other wise was the best of the lot.
Geforce
I am not sure about the service quality of Mahindra, cause I dont own any of their cars. Let a Logan owner reply to that. Coming to Getz, u've reported a genuine problem. I request you to test drive the current Getz to see if there is any improvement in seat hieght. You said you have driven the 1.3 ltr petrol. Drive the 1.5 Crdi diesel to experience the power. Its a road rocket.
Remer
Seems like fun will go for a test drive any idea abt the kind of mileage it gives.
carispassion
i feel that, logan or swift dzire will be the best choices for you. UVA is not as poweful. Logan is very spacious and comfortable, though the seats lack proper back support. And you will have to live with the boxy styling. on the other half, DZire will have the best engine of the lot, peppy as well as fuel efficient. its comfortable too. The rear seat leg room is somewhat less, when we measure it horizontally. but the high set seats will free out more leg space for tall passengers. It has got he cheapest spares and service too. Any idea how much the Dzire VDi or Ldi would cost on road Dzire VDI is around 6.59lacs onroad in Bangalore. ZDI is 7.5 LDI is around 6 i think. Remer
Oopsie thts a bloody long waiting period dont have tht much time in hand hope the Logan or the U-Va wont have tht much waiting period. M almost leanin g towards the logan since I havent heard much about U-Va or Aveo (which I think is more than 6 lacs) Then again also needs some reply regarding Mahindra's service may be i will have to post another topic for that
Rajeevraj
The ACI May Issue has the shootout between Dzire Logan and tata indigo. Although Dzire wins Logan is not too far behind. Maybe a test drive can help you decide. BTW where are u based? If its a smaller town u may have a long waiting period for dzire also. Just realised you are also in Bangalore. So no hope of getting dzire anytime soon. Where in Bangalore are u based? Rajeevraj2008-04-30 09:52:

Remer
Yep I know just had some thoughts about not getting spares and proper service once the Renault Mahindra partnership is broken. coz already Renault has some plans of tying up with its other group concern Nissan in India. But I got some re-assurance from some users that the service and spares wouldnt be a problem so I guess I would go for it
