How can i know engine is decompression?

A Used Car Dealer employee told me if engine oil spray { tiny quantity ) through dipstick hole is a sign of engine decompression, Is that true? smiley19.gif

I never notice any oil reduction, acceleration problem, or black smoke.

He also told to me many old Indica had engine decompression problem!

actually, engine decompression is caused by many reasons....

by the name means, the compression which has to be meet to supply full power is not meeting up(usually 17 in diesel)...may be because of bad piston rings, improper timings of valves so that whole fuel is not being burnt etc...

symptoms are correct,as u gave are leaking fuel from exhaust, lessĀ  power etc...
