adi1991
KPL Testing Kit I have seen in many threads on the forum and elsewhere, which says
speed
i knew the bottle method, but never tried as i always felt it was a bit unscientific , crude & cumbersome. it should be mandatory for cars to have a kpl reading meter in the dash, as some models do have. designersf
but isnt it a bit complicated??fuel wil leak from the tank.and where wil u keep the bottle??
speed
its too old garage type of a job, dirty, murky, unclean. was good for ambys , fiats, mm jeeps, not for modern day cars. in dash fuel consumption figures should be provided.
bluesapphire
where will u keep the bottle while driving the car Adi.......i thought that nowadays some electronic kits for testing Kpl might be available...are they not available which can be connected with car.... adi1991
There are scan gauges and all. The bottel is kept in a hanger which is fixed on the side of the bonnet. This is just another way of Kpl testing. And somehow I find this one the most accurate. (you can never trust a computer).
designersf
yup....computers are dumb wrt kpl testing atleast....who would believe 150kpl on the meter of a glamour fi/tvs flame!!!!
adi1991
And one thing I forgot. You to connect a external high pressure fuel pump. For diesel it should do as it requires normal pressure only.
Darshan
I have seen people testing the kpl of their 2 wheelers in the method you suggested. I think there needs to be some sort of pressure for the petrol to reach the engine looking at the tank and engine position(correct me if i am wrong). Cause i still remember my old zen ran out of petrol many times(college days) and 1 liter petrol would never start the engine. Dont reply - technology has changed
adi1991
I am still not able to understand your question. Well I have already told in my earlier post that a external high pressure fuel pump in in petrol vehicle are used. And about your zen not starting in 1 litre petrol is because of the shape of your fuel tank (not exaclty a circle is it?). So no problem with a bottle. nighthawk~
Well according to me the FUll tank to Full tank is the best Method of calculating the KMPL , but some cars like Fiesta have these Advanced technology like the DIstance to empty meter which is a kinda computer thing that calculates and gives you the Reading abt how many more kms can be run in the Amount of litre of Fuel you are having! Cheers!
adi1991
fiesta right.............. well octavia and cr-v have far more advanced on-board computers than that. This is surely more accurate than full tank method
designersf
yup...bmw's are said to have a much better system...
adi1991
better as in accurate may be. I am talking about more on board computers (octavia has 9). I think fiesta shows how much km the car will go same as octavia. Honda CR-V shows how much the car will go plus the mileage like on the highway the other day it was showing a 12.8 so its that accurate. and range(km the car will go) were also shown like 352 (so with a 1km scale). octavia scale is 10km so it shows 360km and then straight 350km.
