anjan_c2007
sb-alto fantastic pictures from Kolkata. The VW microbus is a treat to the eye. DD the temperatures are on a high and we here in Central India have seen it reach to around 43-44 degrees Celsius. Today I filled up diesel upto the brim in my Scorpio, sensing that there will soon be a rise. Also topped up petrol in my two wheelers and cars for the same reason. TSiVipul
My day is completely spoilt today, reason: My dearer than life Laura got its first dent...and the dent is not only a dent its a lac costing pocket hole...front bumper, front grille, left headlight, left ORVM,left door and windshield all are broken...rest everything is all right. Reason:Trying out to make my new top speed record, and at a speed of 160 came a Tata ACE from nowhere and for saving it,I made my Laura brush up a parked truck...after all..thanking God for keeping me alive and swearing to strictly not to exceed 130(my personal speed limit) ever(though its only for 2-3 weeks). How to post pics,I am unable to do??
Durango Dude
@TSiVipul: I think you need to take your signature (Take care of your vehicle,It does the same in reply) seriously. What you have done is reckless and dangerous, at least you've been honest about it. Considering the damage I think a lac is just a rough estimate, knowing Skoda they are really going to make your insurer bleed cash for this. TSiVipul
@Durango: I mistakenly mentioned it a lac,I meant a lac or two...because Skoda guys who came to tow the car looked at it and told me to spare at least 1.5-2 lacs.. When it comes to signature:I'd say today my Laura took care of me and payed back all the love I have given her till today...though I am now really feeling guilty for what I have done for my small desire... sb-alto
@Vipul : Sorry to hear about the damage, but try not to break land speed records on Indian roads. Here is a jaguar near my home. A reputed hotel is running a fleet of Jags diesel. sb-alto2011-05-10 06:43:
TSiVipul
@Friends: You may feel it unbelievable but what repair price Skoda has quoted is: Not 2 lac Not 1 lac.... Its just 84K,Reason:Only front bumper,ORVM(left),windscreen and Headlight will be replaced, front grille is saved unbroken..it simply came out..rest every part will be repaired by denting, because every dent was only on the external body, there was nothing deep. I owe it to the tank like build quality of Skoda.
arun1987c
Took my bike back from the mechanic after engine work. Waiting to clock 1000 kms to fit the K&N. asethi919
A horrible and frustrating day for both cars. WagonR met with an accident. Dad was driving the car when suddenly 2 cows came in between the roads from the bushes at the side. The car ahead of dad hit the breaks and so did dad. The car behind dad, a safari also hit the break but did not stop completely and therefore rear ended our car. This lead for our car to be pushed further into the car in front. The bumber and the tail light at the back suffered damage and a minor dent in the front.  Almost met with an accident in dad's Honda. On the gurgaon expressway, an *****ic bus driver suddenly decides to pull out from the bus driver ahead of him into my lane. I had to swerve to the right lane and then back at a speed of 100. Thankfully the Honda was able to grip the road well and didnt get offbalance. The swerve did save the car and me but it was rather close to the bus and I am thankful there was no car on my right.  I guess it was a good thing I took dad's car today otherwise Honda would have been damaged. Durango Dude
@ A Sethi: Hope you and your dad are OK. Our roads are filled with many 'great escapes' everyday. No wonder we start blood pressure medicines early. Getting from point A to B is getting a little too exciting for comfort.
asethi919
Thanks guys! Driving in the city truly is the most frustrating part of the day.
rssh
I finally completed a 9hour drive from Hubli to Mumbai (from a wedding) today . I started @ 5am and reached at 2pm in South Mumbai (with a hour in btw at McDonalds in Kohlapur). The drive was fantastic as it covered the 4 laned NH-4 highways which is such a pleasure to drive on to here you can maintain a speed on 120kmph constantly .  One thing I noticed in the 1200kms (to and fro) drive is that in Karnataka state the truck and bus drivers move to the left when they see a fast car approaching . In Maharashtra I has to zig -zag in the 2 lanes to pass them .  The Fe due to the spirited driving was a modest 18.5kpl . Though I could have extracted more but then you rarely get to flex your right foot in Mumbai.
sarabjeet
With a heavy heart i decided to run a car on petrol ( Yes my newly bought Civic) I was loving the spirited fuel for the first time in my life (dad was paying for the petrol bills) but recent hike was a shocker so i have converted my civic to CNG today. TSiVipul
Haha, petrol prices on an all time high, making Laura even dearer, many things have changed but my Laura's fuel tank i till full, only change is that now I am driving Innova more and Laura enjoys being parked. rssh
I was driving towards Kharghar from colaba and noticed that all the petrol cars inspite of empty road were not going fast . I think the hike has made the petrol cars owners life miserable nowadays . I think that the govt. should impose heavy tax on consumer diesel cars so that the hike in petrol prices remains controlled to some extent. rahul1810
@rssh NDTV has reported that there would be some action in this area pretty soon.
sarabjeet
Yes Diesel prices are set to go up by Rs. 3. But people would live by that, it won't happen without halla gulla. All the govts step to check Inflation will go down the drain.
sgiitk
@rahul; expect another Rs.5 on petrol soon. As per the box of the Rs.63 per litre only Rs.30 goes to the oilco. So it is the govt profiting every time the price goes up (all levies are a percentage).
Durango Dude
Got my Dell Desktop XPS series, i7 2600, 1 TB HDD, 12 GB RAM, 24" LED full HD, BD ROM, Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit.. It's great after having gazed at a 14" CRT for ten years. Performance is great. Sitting in front of the monitor is like going to a movie. Got it by courier and was setup promptly by a Dell technician.
driftpunk
Congrats Wow DD. That is fantabulous configuration. I wonder where you'll use it to its full potential. Anything above 6 Gigs is excess and wont come into play much in a normal guys life. What are you going to do with so much RAM ? And how much did you pay for it? How much shipping charges did you pay for the courier? IMO, this is not a default config of a set, have you got it assembled to your choice ? 'Cuz the set that has your mentioned config has 2 TB HDD capacity.driftpunk2011-05-17 17:17:
