vikky1971
Renewed the chain of my daughter's bicycle and I tell you guys, it's a tough job. Removing the pin, without damaging, from close tolerance bearing was difficult. The cycle still operational.
vikky1971
After doing Dushera Pooja, put garland on my both rides. WagonR alternator belt was making screeching noise, today I could see the rubber powder on the side of engine casing. Slackened the alternator holding bolt and with the help of crowbar increased the distance between alternator pulley and engine pulley, then tighten the above bolt. Finally no irritating screeching noise.

Tried creating a new id , that did not work as i could not get a confirmation email to my email account Tried emailing the administrator and got a quick reply about this being sorted out , but i was denied access for all this while. Being adamant of getting back to the forum kept on trying to login with my credentials. Broke through the wall today.

vikky1971
Visit to Autocar performance show was awesome. Shook hands with the legend, Mr.Hormuz. Gadgets section was ok ok. Even organised by FMSCI was good but using self car refrained me from participating, I love my ride. Isuzu also took part with two rides. Great turnout. vikky1971
Yesterday and today busy with the home cleaning for Deepawali. It's a hard work. Rigged decorative lights outside on all windows. In the evening went for cracker shopping, no matter what school says kids still wants, that makes them children. Waxed my car and topped up the air pressure in the tyres.

vikky1971
Found fridge compressor running at around 80~85deg centigrade. Prolong running at this heightened temperatures may result in carbonisation of the oil, so fitted a cooling fan coupled to the fridge compressor starter relay. Shall reduce the running hours and efficient cooling!
vikky1971
My kid's room Split A/C condenser unit's(outside unit)compressor and fan not cutting off even after fan mode on the remote, is selected, same happens even after switching off the A/C from remote. Compressor & it's cooling fan runs unless plug is pulled from the power supply point. Well! Removed the control card and found the 12V:230V,30A relay functioning erratically. No spare as Hitachi wouldn't supply. Retrofitted one from Amazon and as of now Air conditioner working satisfactorily.
librankur
Your posts give me hope. I am also a DIY Guy myself , (or so i wish ), but not thst technicaly sound. I like to rip apart things myself , which later turns up to be a nightmare My current priblem is with my fridge , its a very old LG 440Ltr fridge , which refuses to run when connected via a voltage stabilizers , but works fine when connected to the mains without the voltage stabilizer. I had a fridge stabilizer earlier , i then tried attaching a 2kw stabilizer , then my AC stabilizer , then recently i bought a new stabilizer : Automatic Voltage Corrector for it , VGuard VGSD 100 The compressor refuses to start on any of these , all are working fine when attached to other devices for which they are meant. Could it be a voltage trouble. My place is getting erratic voltage ranging between 245 - 265 You are the tech kind and i am sure you know whats going on . I suspect carbon deposits on the relay
vikky1971
@librankur, normally all the stabilisers available in the markets are proportional type that is if input voltage is 180V then it will be raised to 200V & so on. Now if you are receiving 245V then output of the stabiliser would be ~275V. The servo controlled stabilisers aren't available as too costly, in these output voltage is maintained no matter what is the input voltage. Now your fridge may be having a over voltage protection circuit, without LED indication, which doesn't allow compressor to take this high voltage from stabiliser. For example my automatic washing, whirlpool, has over voltage protection but with LED indication. You can let your fridge run on direct supply, much safe. vikky1971
Find this picture of a servo controlled voltage stabiliser from Industrybuying website, I just saw this time on Google, I don't know if reliable
librankur
So what use a stabilizer if its actually uping the already high voltage , should it just not cut off. Had i just know about the servo , i could have spent my money well on a Servo Controller As i have been on this project for a while now , I have recently bought another stabilizer this time it is a V GUARD VEW 400 , its operating voltage is between 90v-300 v, only trouble being , i cannot hook it up to work, every time i turn this stabilizer on every MCB of my house trips And that when its output has not been connected with anything. Have to call in some professional help now .
vikky1971
@librankur, professionals! I doubt it. You need to call upon the stabiliser(as in warranty period) guys to exchange the unit as it looks defective.
librankur
Yes I did just that today, called in VGuard Engineers to have a look. They came by and suggested that i need to replace the MCBs to C Series or G series for this particular stabilizer to work at all and also draw a direct feed line from the electricity meter to this stabilizer. vikky1971
Unbelievable! I live in a high rise building and where the water head pressure may be more than 10bar that is if you connect a pressure gauge on any tap it would read 10 bar. In high rise buildings the pressure may be more for the 1st floor as tank is mounted on top of the building. Now few years back I purchased a crompton greaves water heater from a mall and put it on use after few days found it leaking, as it was in warranty, I called them. The technician came was a street smart guy, he found that the steel case had cracked(manufacturing defect) and told me that I can't claim the warranty if the gasket leaks, why! He showed me in the booklet it was written hot water outlet valve to be kept open, it mean the heater wasn't designed to be pressurised. Now how could a normal family person would know this? Well! I modified the assembly and stretched the use for next 5 years & later replaced with A Racolds.
vikky1971
@librankur, I saw the C series GE MCB and they would cost you at least >700₹ each and moreover if these guys are asking to place it after the meter then it means the new vguard will be connected before your present MCBs, then why bother changing them! Please think it over. I hope you have put RCCB( Residual current circuit breaker) instead of a MCB. Now purpose of RCCB is that of a MCB + it will trip the supply(unless the cause of leakage current is rectified) if in your household wiring there is a shorting is about to happen. RCCB costs a lot, buy online or from a wholesaler, they give around 30~40% discount on MRP.
librankur
The Vguard VEW 400 is on the left in the snap I did a test run today , took the stabilizer to the mains hung up the stabilizer up on the wall and drew a pair of wires from the meter attached a Havells C63 DP and bingo it worked , at least the stabilizer now starts Now i will take the output feed to my fridge and see if it does it any good.
