...Now Skoda to also join the 'Cheap'car race!!

Recommended Posts

smiley1.gifHi guys......the Indian Auto market is small-car hungry and with or without a celebrity alongside in commercial messages, it would in one way or the other sell in sizeable numbers. And look who is thinking cheaply- Skoda Auto.

The Czech manufacturer is overwhelmingly excited about the bright sales chart, and expects to sell 20,000 cars by the end of the year in comaprison to 13,000 units last year (read as Fabia doing the trick)VW plans to make a small car for the masses in India. Skoda is owned by VW and they too, although presently in the planning stage, will most certainly come out with a small car in a few years time. What this conveys is there is room in India for two connected brands to sell products in the same price range parallely. Now we comprehend why Kia is coming into India in spite of Hyundai

i think fabia is pretty much carrying the good image of skoda!

it is put under premium hatchback category!

also repu is created by the quality of the product, if skoda makes it worth spending money for, they will carry the good brand's image!

See FABIA, on roads u see 1-2 Fabias parked with hazard lights (real brake down not something else , investigated that :) ). U will never see the same with Octavia or Laura. I have seen Octavias doing duty after 800000Kms in Europe but there also Fabia is not much reliable. Skoda should take it easy and not enjoy and misuse the success of Octavia/superb

With the rupee depreciating by 12% in 22 months, it would hard for any of us to match the 'take home' of a German VAG group factory floor worker. So what they percieve as cheap can't be that cheap. If they were to make the M800 it would be priced any where above 3 lakhs. Their cheap car can't go below 4 lakhs and it would be unreliable 'Premium'<read: not VFM> piece of junk. 1 Euro is Rs 63, thereabouts.

well according to me people wont mind spending for this car even if it is priced at 3 lakh provided the quality is not cheap.

i think idea behind making cheap car is to launch it below fabia's price bracketdon't take literal meaning out of it, at least till the car is launched and tested!

Well even MERC is a Taxi is Europe. That doesnt mean it is cheap or has no respect. Infact it shows the relaibility of product.

Infact Apart from Korea Hyundai is considered as downmarket, but its doing pretty well in India and has got decent products.

Also Skoda sells for its quality not for brand name
