Zen Exhaust system

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My zen has done 108865Kms, Lately i have started feeling that its pick up has gone down. I suspect its due to carbon deposition in exhaust over the mileage. So shall i go for replacement of exhaust system. Please suggest.

I doubt that the exhaust has anything to do with it, esp. as. I presume you are meeting the pollution checks. This is highly improbable unless you have squashed the pipe or something. Zen exhausts are know to last almost forever.

i think youre doubts hold some weight, visit your local muffler guy and im sure that he'll tell you whats wrong. my 2000 honda city 1.5 used to feel the same so i installed an new air filter and a new free flow exhaust.the car now feels almost as powerful as it was when i first bought it. the old silencer/muffler was full of rust and other black oil/soot kind of stuff~~totally choked!!

better just go for a new muffler kit, cancel / bypass the catalytic converter(although illegal!)this should not set you back by more thean rs.4000.this guarantees throttle response and better pickup .BTW does you car emit smoke while running....find out and let me know, because that will show that your engine is dying toosmiley11.gifsmiley19.gif

Dont go for replacement.

I own Tata Indigo LS (May 2004). It has covered 1,54,000+ kms.

When the Odo read 1,43,XXX kms, I noticed that the pickup was low. So I showed it to TASS (Tata Authorised Service Station). The Manager said "Get the fuel pump checked from Lucas Service Center as the fuel pump was of Lucas make".

So I showed it to Lucas. The mechanic there said yes the fuel pump needs calibration and some internal parts need to be replaced. I agreed and gave the pump to Lucas. But inspite of replacing parts worth Rs.5050/- and Labour of Rs.810/- there is no difference between pickup. I have to give more than half throttle to keep momentum. I showed again it to another Lucas Service Centre in other city (Miraj, Maharashtra). But still no improvement in pickup.

At the Miraj Lucas, I removed my catalytic converter. But still no improvement.

Please show it to MASS and get back to us. Lets see what MASS says.

Bye.
