Indica Vista

Recommended Posts

Recently I took a testdrive of Tata's new baby , Indica vista. As Autocar and most of other analysists stated ,  it was sevierly undertyred . It got punctured twice in my journey of 15 kms. Shockingly the car was just 450 kms old and the road was an average indian road what we face most of the time in India. Forget the ABS or airbags , TATA could have taken care to improve the tyres quality from its vendors ,which is the most basic safty feature a car can have

@ Shodan: I don't agree with you. I just came back from Elliot's beach, saw a Vista there and absolutely no 'crossing noise': silent and refined and no 'bearing noise' that old Indica's used to make. It is as refined as any other hatch, that is very commendable of Tata; now if they give all the bells and whistles then it would make a good case for itself, viz Airbags, ABS, EBD and BA. It's one of Tata's 'Achilles heel': their demo car's are in very poor shape.

Undersized tyres are either a standard feature of most (if not all) car manufacturers or of Auto Magazines. 90%+ of reviews crib about them - width and rim size, in that order! Remember the performance expectations of  auto buffs may not necessarily match those of the average buyer.

I m absolutely delighted with the car's perfonmance and no second opinion about it. But how can we get a confidence on ride if tyre twice gets pucture on average road within a journey of 450 kms?

what punctured the tyre? tyre quality or car or some nail?

I would say you just choose the wrong road for your test ride...nothing to do with the tyres offered as OEM on the car..

I would say it is a case of tough luck. I average one puncture per year on my cars. The last pair I had was very unusual - the filler nozzles of the Tubeless Bridgestones on the Accent failed on successive days. I dealer was as surprised as I was.

pls read carefully my words , "average indian road" , u just cant travell on a golden qudralateral always. "Twice puncture in a single journey of 15 kms" , this means previously punctured tyre is in the boot and second new tyre is punctured , "Test drive" , an execute from the dealership also accompanying u , and he wont allwo u to ride too badly and do not select too bad road

It was probably a bad day for you. Nothing like this generally happens during normal day to day usage. Demo cars are generally not well taken care of and are used by dealer staff pretty aggressively. So Couple of punctures should not be an issue.

may be ,Leave those incidence of puncture , the perfomance was absolute delight and good generous interior space comparable to sedans is also a good thing. But the TATA could have given a different name as the name "indica" gives a hangover of older taxi generation cars

see undertyre means it can affect the performance of the car but nothing to puncture...even i10 is undertyred today...

And werent they Tubeless ones..

And if you are talking about the quality tata is giving so remember that Tata is not making tyres and they may be some company like Mrf, Goodyear, Bridgestone, etc and all are good so why to blame tata for it..

Why blame Tata alone for naming their car on the most succesfull car from their stable./.... Remember Maruti....Zen Estilo.....

well u cant attribute tyre punctures to tata's quality or vista being undertyred !!! the test drive cars are driven insanely by people who come to test and hence they hit those pothholes which in a way lead to damage on tyres...well  according to aci almost 90 % of cars in india at present are under-tyred and that's too increase the mileage of the car !!!!

well u know why the earlier generation indica sold ????? because it was the cheapest diesel and petrol car in this segment. but now its priced close to the hatches but its cheaper than them so that may be the reason.yeah vista got good reviews but the people who are fed up owner of tata cars must have circulated horror stories among the people who are intrested.

When i went at launch of Sumo Grande he told me that there is waiting of one period and same he told me about Vista too...

Now Sumo Grande being a good car didnt got success, i hope that same is not the case with a very good product from Tata this time i.e. Vista..
