FAW To also produce a 'low cost' car for India!

Recommended Posts

smiley17.gifHi guys!!Representatives of a Chinese automobile major met chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee seeking 600 acres to set up a small car factory in Bengal. While the government hopes the company would slip into the Nano site Singur vacated by Tata Motors, it will also showcase other locations at Kalyani, Kharagpur and Haldia.

The future of Indian Automobiles looks bright with the inroduction of new players in our market. This will help the buyers get their hands on the latest and world class products with advanced tehnologies at a reasonable price.

Even before the Nano is launched, several manufacturers have expressed their future plans to develop low cost cars for India. Hope our Government gets as agressive in providing better infrastructure to accomodate the soon to be launched cars. Otherwise, I will have to start thinking of buying a helicopter for myself smiley36.gif.

Let's hope this gets through and the plan does come up in Bengal without any issues like with Nano. It will surely do some cover up for WB's image as an industry friendly state.

FAW might not face the problems the Tatas did because they are expected to set up a plant in 600 acres (land willingly given away by the farmers). So, the unwilling farmers can get back their land (may be not the piece they owned but very close to it) and the plant can still go ahead. This should resolve most of the problems.
