anjan_c2007 1 Report post Posted January 26, 2009 Surprising to read in the AC I Feb 2009 issue that the Xylo does'nt have anti roll bars. Its braking is also suspect as the road test proclaims. Lets hope these niggling problems are settled by M&M soon to make the Xylo a winner. Otherwise its feature loaded interiors are quite well taken but for the poor plastics. A tailpeice- It comes with images of 40 Gods and can be set with the one the user chooses. What about atheists and agnostic persons?
Kinshuk 1 Report post Posted January 26, 2009 Absence of anti roll bars is a shocker...as far as the god image issue is concerned, M&M can say whatever they want, presence of these images show that they are targetting the taxi market!
bluesapphire 1 Report post Posted January 27, 2009 Well this MUV will rock in taxi market, but in passenger market, Innova still rules..
thackervijay 2 Report post Posted January 27, 2009 comfort, driving pleasure and overall innova still rules this segment as BS said, so xylo yes taxi segments might see lots of new ones in their parkings.
Crazy cat 0 Report post Posted January 28, 2009 But currently Xylo doesn't come with Taxi permits. The key point for Xylo is its pricing, which makes you think that Innova and Xylo belong to different segments. But if they give it to Taxi, then Innova will surely face the heat of Xylo. @anjan, I read some first drives and watched some in Youtube too, but no one has mentioned about this. Can you please tell me in detail, is Xylo's handling and braking worser than Scorpio? Because while I'm TDing it, it braked well(better than Scorpio), but I didnot test it at high speeds though. [/quote'] The Xylo's handling is better than the older Scorpios ( pre-2005) but may not be better than the newer CRDe or the m-Hawk. I could test drive the Xylo at speeds of upto 60 kmph and not more, as I was in the city limits. But I am told that at above 120 kmph it is not very stable. But overall, I found it to be a good VFM for the pricing at which the MPV variants are being offered by M&M. anjan_c20072009-02-14 14:57:
anjan_c2007 1 Report post Posted February 14, 2009 Here are some more Xylo pictures clicked by me. Had been to a Mahindra showroom last week. Was impressed with the VFM factor of the Xylo. Outer fit and finish are excellent for its class. But for the cheap looking door handles and the quite crude chrome like rings that encircle these the MPV offers a good VFM package. The plastics quality need a bit of improvement. Space abounds within the MPV. The fit and finish don't match up to the Innova but is a class apart for the lower amount we are paying. The seating is for either 7 or 8 passengers. If we opt for bucket seats in the second row,it becomes a seven seater or else if it is a bench, it will seat 8.The MPV offers a solid ride typical of any Mahindra. The engine noise is very less and cabin intrusion is minimum. The steering and controls are well placed and one doesnt feel like he is driving a 1800 Kg plus MPV. It feels very light. The suspensions are on the softer side for a Mahindra. Though the drive is not as responsive as a Scorpio 2.6 CRDe (the m Hawk is a class above) or as smooth and refined as the Innova, the Xylo with its 2.5 L CRDe engine is fun to drive and handle in the city traffic. I could not exceed speeds of above 60 kmph while on the city roads, but have read that its a bit unstable at higher speeds of above 120 kmph. The Xylo does a maximum 161 kmph according to M &M.The seats fold up beautifully for ingress and egress of passengers especially in the third bench. To begin with I am posting a picture that I clicked at Mumbai a few months back. This is followed up by regular post-launch XYLO pictures This is an E6 variant. The higher variants E 6 and E 8 have different colours available that are not found in the E 2 and E 4 versions. The music system an integrated "Made for Mahindra" MP3/CD player is of Nippon make and is fitted to the E 6 and E 8 versions. The name Mahindra is painted on the front panel of the player. This is very similar to the one fitted on to the Swift DZire ZDi but the ZDi has steering controls for the music system. The Xylo's engine is of a 100cc lesser capacity than the 2.6 L CRDe of the older Scorpios and has been renamed as m Eagle. What next from M&M? m Vulture or m Falcon and so on. anjan_c20072009-02-14 15:41:
tanmay87 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2009 Nice pictures anjan, Xylo is definitely a great VFM proposition especially for those who can't afford an Innova.
thackervijay 2 Report post Posted February 16, 2009 nice pics anjan, i liked this interiors of black,-grey combinations much better then its beige ones. Vulture and Falcon,,.. hmm nice one anjan
bluesapphire 1 Report post Posted February 16, 2009 Well Xylo doesnt looks good in double color combi but interiors are good .. And i suppose that Xylo is instant hit from M&m's coz i have seen lots of them in my city and in many colours...
anjan_c2007 1 Report post Posted February 16, 2009 They always bring the top end model as DEMO CAR for test drives. While driving around with the MPV, I was asking the dealership man as to what features do not come with the E 4 and the E 6 models? I had driven the E 8.The engine feels extra refined and though the diesel clatter exists its not as pronounced as the Mahindras made even five years back. The fifth gear engaged at speeds of 50kmph plus is cool to drive.Taking the Fiat MJD 1.3 doing its duty in the Swift/DZire as the benchmark in common rail diesels for this class, the 2.5 CRDe of the Xylo is nowhere as refined but not at all crude either. The Innova engine is also much more refined. But the Xylo for its price is a class apart. The solid bodyshell cocoons occupants and the potholes and minor road angularities are not felt within the cabin.Using a Bolero for some 7-8 years now, I must say that the Xylo feels much more secure and is two generations ahead. anjan_c20072009-02-16 14:14:

bluesapphire 1 Report post Posted February 17, 2009 So Anjan, even E8 model is having black interiors as in pictures or biege one...Or do they have options.. And regarding engine i heard that its better than Innova, refinement wise and regarding handling i heard that its better than Scorpio...Though it rolls lot because of lack of anti-roll bars bluesapphire2009-02-17 05:38:

Durango Dude 2 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 They are probably dumping the "end of sedans" tagline on popular request' date=' bashing! [/quote'] What if the public think otherwise and start buying hatchback's/notchback's instead of the Xylo. No one's gonna stop buying sedan's just coz of a tagline...Plus the ad with the container crashing on the sedan and Xylo rolling out, is real good..concept wise. I think atleast for the ad firm, that conceived it; it should continue as such. Come on a little bit of imagination and originality doesn't hurt. Next someone will object to "The Fiesta leave's the City far behind"...that ad<d>'s spice, I prefer such ad's to boring stuff dished out by some co's. Worst of the worst are from my fav carmaker: Hyundai, I think the Korean's must stop interfering and give free rein to the ad agency to come up with a spicy ad, in future atleast; if they aren't interfering, I seriously think they change the ad agency; for their future campaign's. They make SRK look like a real comedian in the i10 ad.
BonFre 0 Report post Posted February 27, 2009 OMG!! Xylos add was universally ridiculed, a desi MUV in its 1st Gen. announcing the end of sedans! The add was in bad taste & made no sense. Everyone who saw the add, gulped in the add thinking the sedan to be Logan only! But I do agree on i10 add, it was a useless attempt.
