callin_neo
hi i am owner of indica vista, qjd, aura. for last two months i dont have issue.. the engine is great. i crusie lot in 3rd gear lot. its boon to city traffice. i love it when it comes to ride quality. this is my family first car. i love desiel car. thats reason i got it. now the issue, at signal points the i can see steering vibrating. with a/c switched on. if i switch off the A/C, no vibrations seen. given to service station, they claim it as normal. as said they contacted and test driven another vista. the vibrations are also seen in it. the vibrations are mild with ups and down. can guru's tell what could be the problem? as inspected by the service engineer there is no issue with powersteering pump. waiting for reply -thanks anil
sudeepd
Hi Anil, Welcome to ACI Forum. And Congratulate on you MJD Vista. How much distance has your car covered till date? At what speed does the Vista Steering Vibrate? Are the tire pressures in both front tires SAME (Identical) or different? Please tell us so that we can help better. Sudeep. callin_neo
Hi Sudip, thanks for quick reply. the tire pressure 32 on front and 30 on rear. there is no issue with wheel alignment and balancing. the distance so far covered is 806km. first service done at 480km. i am in honey moon period mating my engine, maintaining my speed at 30-50kmph in 3rd gear. i have this vibrations when i halt at signal or in traffic jam. irrespective the gear you are in, its stand still condition. bhalchandra
Anil, This is a common feature in TATA car, i say so as i have seen it in Indica DLS. It may be a result of Vibration of engine and AC compressor .. (Thankfully my swift is amzingly quiet and calm there is no vibration..!)
callin_neo
Bhalchandra, i tryin to digest it. it would have been digested if this was from day one. i always be positive saying nothing is perfect. accept it on her positives. the service engineer told same, as he test drived other indica vista. just to cross check with vistaian's if they have this issue. [/quote'] The ECU of the car normally increases the engine Idle RPM's when the AC is switched on - So you might experience a slight change in the vibration. Wait until your first/second service - as the engine is run more, the idle noise and vibrations should come down. But do put it across as an issue when you give your car for the next service. Welcome to the forum and congratulations - you made a good choice for a first car.

So should have refinement levels similar to Swift Diesel as the engines are identical (MJD).
bhalchandra
Further to what dtandon adviced ask servicemen to reduce the Idle RPM to keep it less than 1000.
callin_neo
Sudeep, yes, the refinement should be similar to SwiftD. it is similar to that before this issue. the engine is refined, i dont feel i am driving d engine. dtandon i agree with you. the RPM rise will be there. but the vibrations coming after 2months of run. will this be issue for me when i go for long drives. callin_neo
Bhalchandra, it is less than 1000. i am 99% confident but the 1% i have to recheck.
dtandon
I'm unfamiliar with the service intervals for the Vista - Is your first service done ? When is the second service due ? IMO (I own a diesel logan - not a 1.3 Fiat multijet) - The vibrations tend to reduce once the car has been run 1-2K kms. Also, does a cold/hot engine have any effect of the vibrations? sudeepd
I think there should be a Tacho as Standard Fitment since most of Tata Vehicles (Except Sumo) have Tacho. So Mr. Anil what idle rpm does the Tacho show?
callin_neo
dtandon, the next service due is 5000km or 6months. not sure about this. the issue just started lastweek, was going to JC road. arround 2pm. i don't think cold/hot engine is having the effect. i usually start engine leave it while in idle condition. then after while i move it. then i switch on a/c. my gear chaning style 10kmp-2 20-30 -3 40-4 60-5. i always change gear when i reach 1500-200rpm. callin_neo
sudeep, the idle rpm is arround 800 ( its shows less than 1000)
dtandon
sudeep' date=' the idle rpm is arround 800 ( its shows less than 1000)[/quote'] Try this - Park your car and let the engine idle. Then switch on the AC while observing the Tach needle. Does the tach needle move (show a slight rise) when the AC is switched on ? (This indicates that the ECU has increased the idle RPM because the AC is putting additional load on the engine) On most cars, the tach needle shows a slight twitch when the AC is switched on/off. We have Two Indigos. Indigo LS (2004) and Indigo XL Grand DiCOR (2007). When AC of Indigo LS is turned ON/OFF, the Driver can feel the Rise in RPM of the Engine (the Engine noise increases). Also there is an AC Valve present in front of the Engine. But when AC of Indigo XL Grand DiCOR is turned ON/OFF, there is no difference felt in Rise of RPM of the Engine (The Engine noise remains Same). There is no AC Valve present in front of the Engine. Its the Characteristic of Common Rail Engine that even if the RPM is increased to compensate the AC Load, this Engine does not make the Occupants feel that the Engine is Overloaded by AC. rssh
Vibration with AC on when idle is present in my zens steering (non power steering) when I switch off the ac its gone I think it is because of its age (2001) .

Crazy cat
@sudeepd, as far as i've noticed, engine RPM increases when AC compressor turns on, even in common rail vehicles. It should raise, as the load on engine increases. <Quote: i am in honey moon period mating my engine...<Unquote>...so expect a Nano to be born by end of March' date=' I guess...LOL [/quote']

FuelRunGod
Tata guy banned. Okay, the engine on the Vista is still quite new. Expect vibrations to come down as the kilometres rack up. You could also have the idle rpm raised by the workshop by a small amount and your problem should go away. But do it only if it is really irritating you. This because, your fuel efficiency may come down marginally and above that I wouldn't want to mess with a brand new engine. In my opinion, don't worry about it too much. It will go away with time. Durango Dude
FRG, many thank's for bringing out the "Goodnight-Advanced" on the Tata guy...he was popping up like an irritating mosquito in many thread's. Callin_neo as FRG has advised, I think your car just require's running in for the vibrating steering to smoothen out. Till then you can enjoy 'milkshake's' in your car by just allowing a glass of milk to stand in one of the cup holder's and driving around, an added bonus; just joking...no offense. superboy44
increasing the engine rpm just marginally will surely solve your problem, i have the same problem with my indica but then a tata car gives you so many other problems to deal with that you certainly tend to overlook small issues. just wish the vista is as good as it seems and i can tell you that when i test drove the vista it did not feel a tata
callin_neo
Durango Dude, thats good's one..Nano coming . since this is my first car i was looking arround for some kind of advice. i have long vaccation planned in march end. taking my family for long drive. i dont like unknown guest coming in middle. Sudeep hmm i can see raise the RPM when i switched on AC. without AC the RPM stays below 1000. with AC on it reach near to 1000. even the service engineer checked to change but he said the rating are acording to instructions hence he did not change. as said by FRG, i too don't like to mess with new engine. am new to driving world, can some body suggest me is my gear changing fine. the mileage is far good.without ac for my style i am getting 18-19km. not sure i was just checking with the amount fuel filled in and so far km covered. 25+14+14=54, distance covered so far 900km, ofcourse the fuel indicator still shows half tank.
