The Hitavada-Jaycee Int Orange City Vintage Rally

Recommended Posts

The rally was organised on 1st March 2009! I participated in the rally with my old faithful Landmaster but did not win any prize this time.It was really a

pleasure to participate in the rally though the day heat was quite

perceptible at around 38 to 39 degrees C. The route was

37 kms across the city. One participant on his Morris 8 of the 1940's complained

about his fuel pump failing due to heat many a time.Nitin Dossa of the

VCCCI, Mumbai judged the Concours' d Elegance.

The show stealer was a regal 1936 Rolls Royce Phantom II. This was the

car of the Governor of Bengal which was with an owner in Mumbai but now

here at Nagpur. The oldest participating vehicle was a 1916 Evan motorbike-

The Chevrolet Bus' dash so original and well kept. Its owned by a

transport company operator L.N. Gupta Transport. Some say that this was

their first bus ever,so they are quite touchy about it. Its original

petrol engine emits a typical sound thats familiar to our ears.We talk

of Landmaster and Hindustan 14 engines being swapped for the Ambys but

its really great to know that this bus has the same engine since 1940.

Thanks  proton, vijay, sudeep, vibhor and Zal.

sudeep- true, the Morris 8 picture has been posted twice. The Ford Model "A" dash are from a 1932 model (red) and a 1929 model (black) and hence the two pictures.
