Correct Running-In of Vehicles?????????

Recommended Posts

IMO if you drive like you do always, even during run-in period, the vehicle will perform better. But if you drive slowly during run-in and drive hard after that, the wear and tear will be more and the engine will sound strained.

By an large modern cars need far less running in than in olden days. Just drive sensibly (gently) for the first 3000 or so km observing the recommended speed limits, and change the oil etc. as recommended. Quite often the crankcase is filled with a special grade of oil for running in, and it may not be wise to rush the first oil change. One other point - on sustained highway cruising do step off the pedal occasionally for a few seconds.
