amanchopra 0 Report post Posted September 7, 2009 Can we expect Wagon R to be next in line to get the K-series family of engine? Coz in between Estilo and A-star, Wagon R is now sandwitched with an outdated engine.
Endless 1 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 yes, why not, it is expected to get the 1.0 liter engine and launch of new wagonR is expected to be next year.
rahul1810 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 Wagon r and swift are due to get K series engines by this year end. I expect them to be festive season launches
singhji1977 0 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 Though the K series engine introduced by maruti is new invention but maruti has done extreme experiments with the design of Ritz . Its future and sustained success all depends upon how indian customers adopts to the experimentation of maruti (May be a temporary phase or lambi race ka ghoda). Durango Dude 2 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 I have read in the present ACI that it would be difficult to shoehorn the K series engine in the narrow engine bay of the Wagon R. So they are doing something else with the present engine to get it up to mark for April 2010.
anjan_c2007 1 Report post Posted September 8, 2009 MSIL needs to do a lot of homework on the engine front. The Wagon R is dated but sells well. Its like rekindling the Bajaj Super/Chetak era- customer tilt for proven but outdated products. <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> The Estilo was going nowhere so they tweaked the engine and presented a new package. They were cornered and had to yeild somewhere. And now the most disgusting and horrible part- the Swift petrol continues with the outdated 1298 cc Esteem engine thats been made compatible in 2005 for the Swift. Now the twist to the story- the car qualifies in every respect for the small car excise duty rebate, but MSIL won't reduce the engine to one with a sub 1200 cc capacity to allow the customers pay lesser excise. The length of this car is below the stipulated 4000 mm.An engine transplant with the new Ritz K series 1197 cc engine could well do the job, but MSIL is stuck up with its shoddy and hidebound bureaucracy. Was reading about such prevailing bureaucracies in European and Japanese car companies in the Sept 09 AC I issue.
sgiitk 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 I have read in the present ACI that it would be difficult to shoehorn the K series engine in the narrow engine bay of the Wagon R. So they are doing something else with the present engine to get it up to mark for April 2010. I also read that, but it is a real pity. The old M800 engine is about 25 years old and the WagonR, Estilo, and the now dead Alto VX were just 4/3 versions of it. So it should be replaced. If the new Zen Estilo has a Kappa engine then why not the WagonR. May be you have given the reason why they are putting in the 1 litre A-Star engine. PS: If they could shoehorn the TUD5 into the Zen then why no this! sgiitk2009-09-09 03:20:
sanjay1939 0 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 they might have to replace it as soon as possible or else sales of the wagon R and the swift are going to badly effected after december people may probably stop buying them
Endless 1 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 i wonder over such info, when an Estilo can accomodate the new engine, why can't WagonR?

Endless 1 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 Estilo has got better looks now, and an advanced engine. so if WagonR will continue with ol(re-tuned) engine, i don't think it will get buyers for it.

Durango Dude 2 Report post Posted September 9, 2009 All thats new is always not good. Behold the Rolls Royce V8's are more than 50 years old and are OHV like the first Ford Escort Petrol that was launched here in India and still continues the same. Though they 'briefly' went out of vogue when BMW acquired them in the '90's and was back on popular demand. Rolls Royce V8 is the longest serving engine in automobile history. CYRUS43 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2009 No. The Escort engine is a couple of generations older than the current engine. The current one might be derived from the escort power train, but certainly not the same.

sgiitk 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2009 I am not sure what Fords no have but the 1.3 engine in some of the earliest cars was based on the old Kent series dating back to the mid 1970's. I had a couple of these during 1973-76!
