Do dent remover products work?

Recommended Posts

Past few days I came across this Dent remover product named something as dent king on TV Channels. They claim that with a few simple steps, the appartus provided by them can pop out a dent and make it disapper as if it waw never there.

Has anyone tried any such product and do such thing really work..

There is no such thing as a dent remover. Metal once dented has to be beaten back to shape then primed and repainted. Only material that doesn't dent easily is FRP. I had a Sipani D-1 and a scooter fell on the left door and there was no dent/scratch. Sipani D-1 came with a FRP body and probably this is the only good thing I have to say about this otherwise worthless thing on 4 wheels that was passed off as a car. After that I have strictly stayed away from indigenous Bangalore cars. Durango Dude2009-09-20 12:18:49

I have actually seen the dent king stall in center one mall at vashi long time ago.

It consists of a gum kind of thing which you apply to a rod .We then place the rod on the center of the dent then put a horizontal rule having 2 stands on the edges . we then  screw the thing to remove the  dent .

I think you  saw the red swift adv right .

They showed us on the alto but only small dent of cheap cars can be repaired but if similar dent is there on palio of tank built car  it may not work .Also I have suspicion that the glue will ruin the paint job in the long run.

I am also interested in this product.  I saw it being sold in Malaysia.  I asked the shopkeeper for info as per which there shall be no paste or glue.  Only a cup-shaped unit is fixed in the centre of the dent by using vaccum.  When once it is holding onto the dent, it is lifted up by using a screw-type of holder, slowly and steadily.  In a majority of cases, the dent is reversed to a large extent, and the paint is intact.  However, it is not as good as being done with a skilled hand.  The result could be a number of small dents instead of one big dent.  That was 3 years back.  Now, I expect the system to evolve into  a better one which may completely remove the dent.  I am waiting for some actual-user's experience.

My friend this kind of product will work only for very small dent which are on flat surface of the car.. if these are on the curves or at the end of door panel this product wil fail to be of any use.

As said by one of my friend on a car like palio it wont work because the glue used will not be able to take the force needed to pull out heavy metal sheets

These things are essentially Dent Pullers. You make a small hole, screw the device in and then pull out the dent. Then you cover/touch up the hole. They used to be quite popular in the west for small dents.
