Can I convert a FGT car to VGT car

Recommended Posts

Actually the difference between a FGT & a VGT is the Turbo motor, which is fixed externally to the same engine and some ECU mapping.

Can a VGT turbo be bought from outside and fixed in a FGT car with ECU remap.

The Turbo motor could cost say 50-60k for a Linea, i guess it could be fixed on a Punto too.

What say expats?

Technically, its possible -- but you won't find anyone doing it.

The reason is that changing from a FGT to a VGT will not give you the most bang for the buck.

A cold air intake and a Pete's box would be cheaper and also show a more significant increase in performance.

Physically possible to fit a VGT on existing FGT.  if you drive both FGT & VGT equipped Fiat cars there is only marginal power & performance increase. however the modification job is costly. better to trade off.

Requires following to be carried forward from VGT vehicle.

1. Vaccum plumbing, wiring for VGT control vaccum tank & solenoid

2. Injectors - 6 hole injectors vs 5 hole injectors

3. ECU

4. Pistons

5. Intake manifold (bigger in size)

6. Engine wiring harness

@dony; Please see the dates before responding. There was nothing in this thread since 27/11/2009. So it was good as dead. Such threads are best left alone and not revivied unless you have a really good reason to, which imho you do not.

Sorry for posting off-topic,but please pay attention to my serious problem.

Can someone please tell me what's the basic difference between the FGT and VGT?
