My Honda City Gxi 2005

Pros

1. Quality and space inside

2. Mileage (12-13Km/L) - Which is good since I am not a very FE concious driver

3. Maintainence - NO hassles till date (needs new break pads now though)

4. Boot - HUGE

Cons

1. Looks UGLY(atleast to me)

2. BORING - Lacks performance (70-odd BHP)

3. Not enough features(less than my old 2001 Accent GLX)

4. Side view mirrors -Small - With my seating posture half of it shows me my own car and only the remaining half shows the road

5. No Clock - in a 7.5L carsmiley3.gif

6. Not stable at high speeds.- V Light

7. Handling - Eh

I have just never loved this car the way I loved the Accent or the Endeavour. True emotion here would be that I sort of hate this car. I cant explain why.

Well good thread CB.

My cars.

Chevrolet Spark LT - Mint green, model 2007

(Not as solid as Santro both inside out, no Tachometer, resale, small boot)

Pros.

Ride

Handling

Looks

comfortable

Decent build

Great city car

Refined engine

Note - A.s.s till now has been very good especially when compared to Honda or Hyundai atleast in my city.

Hyundai Getz GL - Black, model - 2005

(Engine is not rev-free, interiors are dull, handling not great, poor headlights)

Pros

Spacious

Understated looks, more european

Comfortable

Build quality great

Sleek smooth Gear shift

Powerful engine

Big Boot

Honda City DX- Silver, model - 2003

(Low GC, Plastics not that great compared to today but were good for 2003 model)

Pros

Looks

Space

Ride & Handling

Build Quality

Driveability

Interiors

Luxurious feel

Honda brand

Resale

Great engine

Great FE

...the list will not end actually.

Note - Although old but still feels new not thats Honda, for 1.3 it is damn good, at that time it was even better than those 1.6 and 1.5 Ikons and Accent. Great car overall, no cons as such except low GC but then that results to great driving experience too, just love this car and are planning to keep it for more. It was the best deal at that time for 7.5lakhs. Most loved Honda car in India till today i say.

Let my bike also come in.

Hero Honda Karizma- black, model - 2005.

(low FE, faulty rear lights)

Pros

Looks

Power

Ride & handling

HH reliability

HH Quality

Resale

Comfortable

Note - I still love this bike and am planning to keep this till its end, means it will be disposed of by me only at its scrap value, i love this one so much, still today it looks fresh and for next bike if not Yamaha, it still will be ZMR. It was a perfect bike of its time. To me still looks 100 times better than P220 and other pulsars.

Hyundai Elantra  GLS (1.8 L DOHC 16 valve petrol) bought new Nov, 2005:

Pros:

1. Comfy & spacious interior's

2. Well kitted out; only car with Traction control in it's class.

3. Good highway cruiser.

4. extremely good VFM.

5. Was the best in class in the ACI shootout.

6. Engine noise is very muted in cabin.

7. Light control's very good gearbox.

Cons:

1. Not in production.

2. Low Fuel efficiency.

3. Not mean't for hustling around.

4. Resale: Disaster.

5. The looks: Not many like it, but I seem to like it.

@ASethi: I think the Honda City GXI has spoilt you by it's boring efficiency and great fuel efficiency. I still maintain it's the most user friendly car I have ever driven; only thing that prompted me to go in for the Elantra was absolute lack of kit & safety features for the asking price.

@DD

I dont think elantra looks bad, I feel it depends on the colour. I have seen my teacher's black Elantra, and it was looking pretty good, and gave a rich feel. Your colour just looks a bit simple, though not bad. I would recommend that you get those side strips body coloured though.

@Rahul: Yes, I was for Black, I TDed a black diesel but Black doesn't go down well with the family, especially down south, doesn't turn hot during summer as this color, Black is rather difficult to keep clean. This color exotic silver <dunno what's soo exotic> is very easy to keep clean and hides ding's and scratches nicely. I keep the rub strips black coz it's meant to remain that way and keep the body protected.

@DD

I never said the car is not easy to maintain or light on the pocket. I wrote those down i the Pros of the car.

But if you go through the Cons I have pointed out, I am not really asking for unreasonable things(atleast not with most pointssmiley36.gif).

A car that is stable at high speeds and does not crumple like its made out of tin foil when met with an accident is not an unreasonable demand.

The other things may seem small to others but they can be annoying in day to day use.(clock, reat view mirror, lookssmiley11.gif etc.)

I stand by the statement I have been making for years now that 'I made a mistake buying this car'. I just wish I had another choice at that time.

Ahh, we were just suppose to wait for this City when we bought OHC in 2003 as it was supposed to come in just few months, but decided that it doesnt looks that good and were not willing to wait, we liked the luxury and royale feel of City @7.5lakh, and went for it. After the NHC was launched, i thanked myself as it was decision not to wait for this and even my uncle bought OHC seeing me. Now we both are so happy, and reading you this statement, i am feeling more & more happy, sorry for that but could not control my emotions. OHC is and was so good i say. A true sedan actually with simple but good looks.

I think you misunderstood me; what I meant was I didn't go for the Honda City GXI for the above mentioned reasons. My mistake, I think the comma missing after 'Elantra' made it look otherwise. Durango Dude2009-11-15 10:08:13

I was thinking about the Elantra too but it was beyond the already stretched price range. And since Dad was the one paying for stuff back then I had to listen to him and settle for the City.

But things have changed now. The next car shall be fully bought owned solely by me. Yay!!

Honda Civic 1.8S

What I like about it:

Good power & performance

Free revving engine

Sports car looks

Interior space is awesome

Comfy seats

Cool dashboard and instruments

Easy to drive

What I don't like:

Soft suspension

Feels a little too light

Doesn't feel safe

OE Wheels (ugly) and tyres (skinny) (changing them smiley4.gif)

EDIT : @ Power: I don't understand your post and find it meaningless to the topic. Please avoid such posts.

Very stable even at high speeds

Smooth reliable 1.3 petrol engine

Cheap to maintain

Negatives

Outdated model

Can I post it here?

Unicorn - 2005 Kick Start Model

+Smooth, scilent, refined, reliable and trouble free engine (4.5 Years old, still feels new)

+Honda.

+Comfortable riding posture.

+Excellent Handling

+Looks great to my eyes.

+Progressive disk breaks (I am a panic breaker)

+Good FE (50+ Kmpl)

-No OE alloys in 2005 model

-Cold start problems (This can be a positive point also as the engine cools quickly)

-Plastic fittings are not good, as it sounds louder than the engine :)

-No croud pulling gadgets like digital speedo

-Not a great horn.
