Some more news...

The Jive, as we told you earlier, is a clutch-less version of the TVS Star City, while the Wego is the 'big' scooter that we talked about a week back. We had told you that both the vehicles will be launched at the 2010 Auto Expo, but guess what, TVS beat us to it! They (TVS) have launched these two new two-wheelers today morning at a function in Chennai...

The Jive's much talked about automatic 4-speed transmission is christened 'Tmatic' and will shift gear on its own if you are too ignorant in traffic. And should you suddenly realise that you want to change gears on your own, you can do so without using a clutch. We guess this brilliant move by TVS will reduce the number of commuter bikes awkwardly stalling when the signal goes green. The clutch-less wonder will be available in Chennai at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 42,500/-

Sharing the limelight with the Jive is the Wego scooter which will be powered by a 110cc, 8bhp engine engulfed in a metallic body to target the male audience. The scooter incorporate all the (now common) features like frontal refueling lid, mobile charger, large storage space etc. The scooter will sell in Chennai at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 41,000/-

Stay tuned to this thread as we bring you photos and more information on the two new vehicles from TVS!

TVS Motor company has launched another offensive into the Indian bike market in the form of Jive, the first clutchless bike in the country (Before you say Hero Honda Street, its was step-thru).

The Jive comes with a 110cc engine developing 8.1 bhp @ 7500 rpm and 8.1 nm of torque @ 5500 rpm. The engine features the innovative T-Matic technology with rotary gear technology which is coupled with an automatic clutch which means no left lever on the bike. Its also means that you can come straight to neutral gear with just a single flick of the gear lever. The bike also comes with an anti-stall mechanism which prevents the engine from dying off at low speeds in high gears.

The bike comes with a long list standard equipment which includes alloy wheels, electric start and storage area on the fuel tank aka Flame. The fuel tank capacity is 12 litres with 2 litre reserve. Jive is also the first bike in the country to come with an under seat storage space big enough to hold a water bottle, vehicle documents and even a small umbrella!

The bike has been priced at a very competitive Rs 41,000. The combination of commuter centric features and some innovative technologies, the bike is sure to be a hit with the masses.
