sachinrthakkar
I purchased a Punto DI Emotion on 19-07-09. After driving for 8 days I felt a drag towards left and contacted the dealer on 26-07-09. I was told to go to the work shop. On 27-7 2009, my vehicle was test driven by the staff at the work shop & was told that there was no problems in it. At the time of 1st Free servicing on 10-8 2009 told the service advisor at the work shop about the same. I was told that there was no problem in the vehicle. After driving 5500 Kms in total I noticed that the tyres were completely weared & went to the Showroom on 26-8. On 31-8 2009 the vehicle was picked up from my home for repairs. On 4-9 the vehicle was returned with all 4 tyres been changed at no cost by the dealer & was told that the Engineers from FIAT have thoroughly inspected the vehicle & the fault is been rectified & they have test driven the vehicle. After driving 500 Kms I felt the problem still very much there, it was still dragging, I informed about this, they asked me to drive for another 1000
CYRUS43
From What I can see, It seems to be an issue with alignment from the get go. Maybe some manufacturing defects in the Suspension assembly mounting.
dtandon
But no resolution after multiple attempts to resolve the problem! They can't be so incompetent and get away with it. @sachinrthakkar - can you post a copy of this letter that FIAT sent you ?
sachinrthakkar
Ya I can ... but dont know the process to upload the same on Auto Car... can anyone help me in doing so ? I have the scanned copy of the letter
rssh
If the company is not listening then write to ACI magzine or get media attention . Fiat previously sucked in ass though they are getting better but if they want an image of getting better they ought to give your a new vehicle. BonFre
This type of ordeal with a new vehicle pains a lot! Had it been a small problem, should have been rectified in a couple of visits at the most. Â Try & get in touch with senior Fiat management. sachinrthakkar
@Bornfree... Kinshuk
Get a good lawyer, send Fiat India a legal notice and ask for a replacement, also CC to Fiat HQ (Italy??) I presume people at Autocar can also assist you in talking with Fiat?Kinshuk2009-12-07 12:27:
deepakds
The problem stated by you, clearly justifies a manufacturing defect. Moreover effects of driving terrain shouldn't reflect as early as 8 days. Its real waste of time/money letting Fiat research on your new car and you driving it like a test driver to give them feed back. Kindly approach the Consumer Forum. BonFre
@Sachin, if the top management is turning a deaf ear, one is left with Media & Court. Seems Fiat is no mood to learn its lessons, this will reflect very poorly on the brand in the days to come. Â Push for a replacement through Consumer panel. Also, thanks a lot for sharing with us, I was narrowing down on Punto but now its out of the list.

asethi919
@Mods - Â Can't ACI do something about this? They have in the past. This is sort of scary for potential Fiat buyers.
rangc
ACI surely must have good contacts with the top executives of FIAT and they must try to help in sorting out this grave issue.

hrmanju1
Thats really bad news. Sorry to hear that. Now where are all the Auto Magazines and TV Shows? They should help take up the issue and make sure justice is prevailed. Either get Sachin a new replacement car or refund the money. I would definitely take refund. Once bitten twice shy. Power
Moral of the story - Never buy a fiat vehicle.
driftpunk
@power - No thats not how it should be. Every company can make mistakes. Although FIAT people are acting weird in this case as even they cant figure out the exact thing. There can be problems with cars from any company, but then its the response of the company that matters to us.

cartoos
Fiat bashers leave no chance to bash and how many times it has happened and never learn even after being shut their mouth many times. POWER, Its your problem if you want buy or don't buy, its not universal. Therefore keep your morals with yourself and say thing useful to solve problem someone is facing rather taking out your frustration about Fiat and its admirers. Note from Mod: please take all personal arguments to PM and do not post them here. sgiitk2009-12-08 08:56:
bluesapphire
Well the same thing was with my car(Chevy Spark LT) and also there is a thread in which one member came with a same problem in his brand new Vitara. I faced problem after some 1500Kms, i was told be Chevy dealer that all models manufactured in or after 2007 will have this problem as this is certified by ARAI. Means mostly all our roads are inclined towards left and thus the car moves towards left, so its basically upto the road. Even i tried wheel alignment and balancing several times but no luck, the only solution was the rotation of tyres which can last upto some 1500kms and then it will start dragging again. And i also noticed the same in my uncle's 2007 Swift. I dont know if what he said was true so i started believing him and got used to it. Suddenly after a year so when i gave to service and got back in perfect condition means no more dragging. On further asking he said that there was a part which had problem and now Chevy(after receiving lots of complain) had told them to replace that part and after that till now my car is perfectly aligned. So may be you are facing a similar thing, it was really risky sometimes as my car took no time in changing the lanes by itself when left without my control towards left. sachinrthakkar
@ bluesapphire my vehicle has been sent to FIAT FACTORY twice for repairs .... and its not just Drag ....Tyres wear at around 4000 -5000 kms ....
bluesapphire
@ bluesapphire my vehicle has been sent to FIAT FACTORY twice for repairs .... and its not just Drag ....Tyres wear at around 4000 -5000 kms .... ya sorry i forgot that part. Well i dont know why the Fiat engineers are not able to solve the problem, and my car is now 2+years old and has clocked 10k+ Kms but no tyre wear yet. I think try getting the problem solve with a person/firm who has expertise for alignment and balancing if the warranty doesnt gets void(which i think will not). driftpunk
Dude, that much wear of tyres in 800 km is not justified.
