Jaguar returns to LE Mans 24hr

Recommended Posts

Jaguar is back where it belongs! This year marks the 75th anniversary of the brand on road and on track, and to mark the occasion the British firm is making a long-anticipated return to the Le Mans 24hr.

The Jaguar story started back in 1951 when a C-Type won the day-long race on its first outing. Six other victories have followed over the years, the last one in 1990 when a XJR-12 prototype took the chequered flag.

This year instead of gunning for overall victory in the prototype class, Jaguar is aiming to take the silverware in the GT2 class with a heavily-modified version of the XKR, built by Rocketsports Racing based in Michigan.

The car will be running a full American Le Mans Series this season, starting at the 12 hours of Sebring next month, with the main event taking place on June 12-13.
