This year marks the 75th anniversary of the brand on road and on track, and to mark the occasion the British firm is making a long-anticipated return to the Le Mans 24hr. The Jaguar story started back in 1951 when a C-Type won the day-long race on its first outing. Six other victories have followed over the years, the last one in 1990 when a XJR-12 prototype took the chequered flag. This year instead of gunning for overall victory in the prototype class, Jaguar is aiming to take the silverware in the GT2 class with a heavily-modified version of the XKR, built by Rocketsports Racing based in Michigan. The car will be running a full American Le Mans Series this season, starting at the 12 hours of Sebring next month, with the main event taking place on June 12-13.
