creativebala 178 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 People who missed a chance to book their Nano first/last time around can now soon book the worlds cheapest car. Tata Motors is set to re-open the bookings of the Nano once the mother plant in Sanand, Gujarat commences production of the car. However don
Durango Dude 2 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 I think the Nano should be available off-the-shelf. Only then will the purpose of a cheap commuter be served. I think Tata has had a very rough beginning for it's baby, hope things smoothen out as Sanand goes on stream. They should make atleast 2-3 lakhs a month to satisfy the nascent demand, or people will get fed up. Durango Dude2010-02-09 07:23:
sgiitk 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 I am not in the least surprised. A large number of bookings were by 'premium seekers' who then went out when they got lower priorities.
bossottoelango 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 Happy to see we will be getting Nanos in large numbers....
carazoo.com 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 Lets hope that Tata Motors will be able to produce more cars this time, than the bookings.

The nano is obviously a nice car and it is a revolution in this auto industry. But one thing i still cant like is its ride and handling. Even if someone drove a M800 before buying a Nano, he would stop liking the car from day1. There is hardly any quick throttle response and seems like it will turn turtle if you go in a corner at 35kmph. There is a feeling of improper weight distribution and ride is harsh compared to a M800. I still cannot digest the fact that it is an alternative to M800/ Alto. BonFre 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 See, in the case of SUV's its different. The Indian bred SUV's can cruise along the City roads with aplomb with pedestrian traffic giving way & minor bumps/scratches don't matter. While bumper to bumper traffic makes life in a Sedan close to hell! When I said "Small & compact", I literally did not mean Nano but the whole bunch of small cars. These small hatches, be even premium, make driving within the clogged City streets easier.

But i find sedans(midsize) very useful and practical because of that boot. Hatches come with tax benefits, less price and more features per price in comparison to sedans but i find hatches very confined in use(only in cities and short highway trios), whereas sedans can be taken for long tours too. BonFre 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 Yes, that depends upon the family size, for singles like me, one can flip the rear seats & voila, take as much luggage you want to! Modern premium hatches are no less highway cruisers than Sedans. Fabia, i20, etc. do the job pretty well. Wheelbase does have its limitations but is felt if one is really performance oriented.
