Polo Saloon Is Vento (now in Showrooms)

Recommended Posts

EXCLUSIVE!

Volkswagen has christened the Polo saloon the Vento for the Indian market. The Vento, which means wind in both Italian and Portuguese, follows the VW tradition of naming its models after prominent winds. VW certainly hopes the Vento badge clicks in India when the car goes on sale this July. In fact, India is one of the most important markets for the Vento and the German company hopes to sell 25,000 units every year once production is in full swing.

The Vento (code: VW251) is essentially the saloon version of the recently launched Polo and it shares a common platform with the hatchback. Both the saloon and the hatch are similar upto the B-pillar, except for a different grille and lights to differentiate it from its hatchback sibling. The Vento

Fiat's 1.3 Multijet in the Linea is a decent engine. Although it does not have the most power, it is very driveable. Even then, the VW brand name will also help the sales of the Vento. I dont quite like its rear styling though. Ford will have to bring their new Fiesta sedan in order to stay alive.

This thread was already posted before the technical problems which are now with ACi forums, reposting this one is hinting me that restoration of all data between March & April which are now lost will either take time or cant be recovered again, any confirmation on this mods?

This one looks a good sedan and not just a hatch with boot similarly to Linea(from Punto) & Jetta(from Golf). If priced competitively with good features and engine options(as mentioned) will be a hot seller because every one will be wanting to own a mid size VW sedan, also though Honda City is a good car, many are wanting something different, while Fiesta's, Verna's are too old and only few are going in for Linea being Fiat and thus this segment till now is not very exciting, but Vento will change everything by offering something new, being VW, good quality, good looks, good engine options for diesel & petrol, snob value and at good price, its sure to snatch sales from leader City.

Well the tail lights of Vento/Polo are just plain by designs and used in many cars till date, its just a simple squarish design & arent meant for style still its looking very good on VW's now, even the Polo previous models had similar design. But detailing to lights is very good in this.

Also i dont feel that its similar to City, the lights of Vento arent having anything radical so similar or not doesnt really matters. Also the shape of City tail lights are inspired[/b from 3 series as everybody knows, but they could have given good detailing to it like with Linea, this one is bland looking.

It probably will be. The thing that concerns me is that from the images we have seen, the car has a rather conservative look and might not generate enough interest among the buyers when compared to the Honda City.

India is a country where there are people who just wait for something new to be launched in the market.. There maybe many similarities between the existing model or the phased out one, but both the models are sold side by side and amazingly both the models have decent number of buyers too..

Volkswagen Group has launched the brand Volkswagen nearly 10 years after Skoda came to India.. And they have also positioned both the brands as rivals even though both the brands are manufactured under the same manufacturing unit in India and share many components between them..

Skoda has earned a decent brand name in India.. It will take some time for people to get used to the Volkswagen brand.. Everything depends on the After Sales Service which Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai excel in..

And this is the only reason why the Japanese counterparts hold a very strong position than the European cars even though the later make better cars in terms of sturdiness, stability, performance and the overall feel of being in..

Once the After Sales Service matter is cleared through, the Volkswagen brand will be a huge success, no matter how a car resembles any other existing or phased out car..

Hmm, moreso like the Hyundai Accent Viva's real tail lamp...

Besides, google up Vento and its known that it was a earlier generation Jetta platform car of the 90's. Wiki has a pic of the dash, which is shaped similarly when seen in this new Vento. Deja Vusmiley25.gif

4) Interiors almost same as Polo hatchback with minor trim differences,20100601165814.jpg20100601165711.jpg

5) Most Importantly Engine: It's the same Fabia/Polo derived 3-cyl 1.2l motor with one extra cylinder bolted on to make it Powerful 4-cyl unit, definitely featuring more than 100PS20100601165708.jpg
