Polo Saloon Is Vento (now in Showrooms)

Recommended Posts

@rssh: why you have so much hatred about Honda? Yeah they have their own terms, but they are producers of quality products smiley1.gif
Lets have healthy competition. The consumer is the only person to benefit out of this tug war.
I completely agree with you as regards the pricing. If the Vento diesel sells under the top end City, its going to turn tables.

Vento looks well proportioned unlike Swift Dzire. Honda has to reduce the price of City to face the competition from Vento.

The bottle holder at the rear centre looks awkward. Otherwise the car looks good. The previous generation of Polo sedan (Classic) in Europe used to have the gas filled boot opening mechanism like those seen in hatchbacks. It was a great space saver for the boot.

That's Really a Good car both in terms of,

Looks- Its Balanced,

Engines- Its Powerful &

Features- Its Fully Loaded too.

Surprised that VW has kept the same 'bhp' figures for Petrol & Diesel versions(even for the Polo also), advantage being -their Salesman will not get confused at the Time of Product Demonstration.

But Personally what I've not liked is the Idea of Unveiling the Products much earlier than their Acual arrival or Sales start here, like Nissan Micra,Vento, etc.

As Indians have the Charm for Every new things/products(like car, bike & cellphone, etc) coming in the Market & have the 'Urge' to pick it soon or at the Moment when they see it.

While displaying the Product much earlier Evaporates its New-ness & Charm..

MS have already taken the huge advantage of launching their products only after their Supply line is full.

No problem with global Honda only problem with Indian Honda . Whenever you go in their showroom they act as if they have done us some favor while opening the showroom , the products are excellent but whenever you ask if you want this along with the car they are like the warrenty is void and you can't do anything about it .

The owning of H city in my case was rejected when they said fitting wider tyres void warrenty and the service internal is so so .

Well said rssh..

I'm also having the same kind of Sentiments for the Honda India, they are too Much Over-Confident for their Products.

Once I've been there to Watch the Honda Jazz & they're demonstrating it with So much 'Hype'(to the Infinite limits) & were degrading 'Maruti Suzuki' as 'Fools' & they don't know anything about Cars.

Same is the case with Skoda too.

And what the Reality of the both is, their Max selling model figures are even less than MS's worst ones.

VW should undercut the top end diesel to top end city and then lets see Honda collapse in India (my dream to teach them lesson especially in India).

Hey, we have the same dream.

Just that I want all Japanese, Korean and Chinese companies to collapse.

Call me racist, I DONT CARE.

India is an emerging Auto market and we cannot quarrel on whether the car is japaneese or german or anything. Whether the best package and service is delivered is the priority.

Back to topic :

VW is already late for the polo delivery. They are taking too much time. Quality check is ok but a new launch would make people inquisitive and if delivery is delayed then it will clash with the etios /Altis diesel and make things tougher for VW.

Land Rover is definitely not Indian. It is a british company. if we go by your thoughts, if Mahindra and Tata are bought by Japs you will start to hate them?

Its vehicle quality, its ownership experience that matters and nothing else.

The car looks nice with clean lines and the interiors look really plush but less on space. Has the classic German looks and VW have done good by giving it decent power engines.

No doubt this car is German & is loaded with their Engineering but

This car somewhat seems to be Compromised or India Specific designed, unlike GM's Opel range earlier.

I'm still missing the GM's Opel Astra & Corsa SAIL & their failure here was somewhat like some Injustice happened to them.

I'm Deeply Impressed by the Reach & Impression created by the VW with their Polo & Jetta in the Sub-urbs & the Rural areas, as I've noticed by my Previous Weekend Trip to that areas.

People there have started forgetting the Swift D, thanks to its build quality, Rear Seat Comfort & Loooooooong Waiting Queues n Premium to be paid to get Rid of the latter.

Liked its VW. smiley20.gif Das Auto..

Vento seems to be a perfect weapon to gun down the City, it has got looks, equipment, comfort, quality, good engines, good marketing & supposedly good pricing too.

Just a single grouse, why the base variant is equipped so badly for a mid-size sedan?, thats foolishness by VW India.

Today there was an ad in Divyabhaskar by a VW dealer stating 'Good News, VW Vento(the new VW sedan) is coming soon'. So it might be reaching in all showrooms in August itself but deliveries may start only after October i guess.

@Tappet: That's Really a Hot & Great Info..

& the Performance & FE are also Equally Good & Appreciable.

The six speed dsg would surely be the one to watch out for if priced right.

Vento will not come with DSG Auto Gearbox, Instead 6-Speed Conventional Automatic is coming, alongwith Manual versions.

Yes,Its a normal auto box not a DSG.

They say bookings in all over India will officially start in few days and pricing will be announced in coming days.Deliveries will start by third week of september.

VW Vento has the longest wheelbase in the segment (when compared to ANHC,SX4,Verna) and the smallest turning radius.

Pricing will be competitive as most of its parts will be made India unlike Polo.

Colors-

Red, White, Silver, Black, Beige, Shadow Blue(already in Jetta).

Vento starts at Rs 6.99 lakhs-ACI

Volkswagen India has just revealed the prices of the Vento saloon

with the base petrol Trendline version being priced at a stunning Rs

6.99lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), rising upto Rs 9.21lakh for the top-end

(Auto) variant. Similarly for the diesel version, the Trendline variant

starts at Rs 7.99lakh, with the top-end Highline variant rising to Rs

9.23lakh.

With bookings already underway, deliveries of the Vento saloon will

start from September 6, 2010. The Vento is aimed directly at the Honda

City which has a starting price tag of Rs 8.13lakh for the base petrol

which rises up to Rs 9.77lakh for the Automatic variant.

The Vento is powered by 1.6-litre diesel and petrol engines, both

producing 105bhp and 25.51kgm and 15.61kgm torque respectively. The

1.6-litre petrol motor will get a six-speed automatic option along with

the five-speed manual gearbox. The diesel is only available with

five-speed manual transmission.

The new VW saloon sports impressive interiors with solid build

quality and class-leading materials. The rear seats offer plenty of

legroom but headroom could be an issue for taller passengers. The seat

bench itself is flat and the long squab means sitting three abreast for

long journeys will be a comfortable affair. The unique feature for India

though is the front passenger seat which can be adjusted from the rear,

a feature not found on even the Russian Vento. This can be done via a

lever on the backrest of the front seat (see image gallery). Across all

variants, the rear passengers get a rear AC vent and reading lamp as

well.

The Vento also comes equipped with coat hooks, front and rear centre

armrest,

As seen from Vento's specs & Prices, One can easily conclude that VW have Extensively Studied & Researched Indian Market till now & Vento seems to be Going to the Torch Bearer product of the VW.

& They've Really played the Price game, Once again. smiley32.gif

Honda'll have to Really re-think for their Entire range again.
