Punto misfiring.. urgent help pls.

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Off-late I found out that my punto 1.3(mjt) started to misfire.

It does not occur always, i've been observing from the past 2 months and its happened about 3-4 times, till date.

I just snubbed it away until it happened again yesterday..

Is it a sign of some major component failing or something else...

I dont feel the misfire during the initial cranking.

Its only when I drive.

Please help... Its kinda scaring me as its a new car.

While im driving, sometimes i can hear a sound like the one that comes out of a compressed water gun as soon as its switched on.

Something like "ptach" .. :)

I can hear it coming from the silencer.

There is no change in the way the car drives at the moment when i hear that sound.. I will be driving as usual and all of a sudden i hear that noise and its gone..

No jerk nothing ... the car feels precise.

It does not even come to a halt or switch off.

And with respect to bunks i can only say that I stick to just one petrol bunk for refills.Have been going there from the past 4 times.. (on each refill i clock about 370km for half tank).

Reputed or not.. im not too sure..

If it's really the case of engine misfiring, you could also check-up your injectors which could be clogged/jammed/dirt-filled. My ikon started misfiring after 2 yrs of purchasing it and the issue got resolved by just having the injectors cleaned out.

Since your car is almost new, this diagnose does not seem to be dot-on applicable, but is worth giving a try as injectors could get clogged due to bad quality of fuel being used....
