Good Petrol Super Hatch

Recommended Posts

Hey guys since Tongas are banned in Delhi CW Gamessmiley36.gif, I need a that has same horse power as my Tonga. Since I am driving in narrow lanes of  Delhi, I need only super Hatch.

It has to be good looking, sturdy, good ride and handling capabilities, fully loaded and fuel effecient also

Don't suggest me a car unless you don't know much. ASS can be managed here in Delhi without much Fuss.

My maximum budget is around 7 lakh OTR.

So you want replace your Tonga with super hatch smiley4.gif.

Only one car fits your requirement is Fiat Punto 1.4 E pack, its 90 hp fully loaded with gizmos.

It is also best car in hatch for suppirior ride and handling and comfort also.

It is around 6 lakh + in Delhi OTR after discounts

Punto is not at all good for city. A very high turning radius, means the benefit of its good handling are vanished.

The three cars that I will have on my list will be i20, Swift and Figo.

At 7 lakhs you can even get the Jazz but it again has almost the same features as Polo.

i20 is way underpowered, don't like swift, its very old looking and cramped and both cars lacks ride and handling in big way.

Polo is also underpowered, noisy and 3pot engine and that very expensive like Jazz with less equipments.

Tongawala sorry for your tonga story.

Its all the way Punto 1.4 E pack that suites you.

1. Best in class ride and handling

2. Best looking hot hatch

3. Most sturdy car

4. Fully loaded with Blue and me, good looking alloys and big and wide 15" wheels and tyres

5. ASS has improved and is at par with Mass and Hass ( Can check Team Bhp for that)

6. Very fuel effecient ( can check thread here of Linea with the same engine)

7. Its only one of the two 90 hp car apart from Honda jazz.

8. only Fiat cars has service interval of 15000km or 1year, will result in fewer trips to Tass and also works out to be less expensive.

Go for it and enjoy every bit of it.

Well sadly there aren't any hot hatches in our country the Punto though the engine develops 90bhp ,I don't know why I can't feel it . Next powerful hatch is i20 CRDi but the handling doesn't make it hot and its above your budget . The Polo 1.6 will have good handling as well as power which you think is plain jane so I am sorry there is no car for you.

The best one is i20 1.4 A/T developing around 100bhp and 139Nm of torque. But it is 7.60lkahs in Jaipur. But being an A/T car , FE will not be that good.

The other cars that you can have a look is Jazz(a bit more than your budget) and Punto 1.4 (the best option for you).

But if FE is very important, then the only car left for you is swift. Torque is same as that of punto, just that it is 5bhp less. handling is good enough. The only thing is that, it is very common. ZXi is the version to go for if you want the swift.

Punto has a large turning radius and bad plastic quality. Rahul has already mentioned that.

Don't be lazy - test drive all the the cars. You make like the punto after all.

I can manage large turning radius and plastics are now better than before, nothing falling.

Anything alse you want to add ?

I find it ridiculous that someone suggests i20.

it is the LEAST fun to drive car even if it has 100 horses, it has a PATHETIC and HOPELESS 4 speed auto gearbox which robs the car of all the fun.

So either WAIT for polo 1.6(expected soon) or go for punto, you will not regret it.

I am pro i20 because I think that it is the most complete car. If you try you can  find a flaw with almost all the cars available in the market.

Punto has a large turning radius, poor plastic quality, suffers from niggling body parts, has poor after sales service, and 90 bhp engine where 90 is only a no. and does not show up in the meaning because of the heavy weight Punto is carrying.

i20 on the other hand has sufficient power, great plastic quality, great after sales service, and a good feature list.

Being in Delhi does not mean service would never be a problem. you can find countless stories of people having problem with their service.

The case which raised the most eyebrows at Skoda was from Bangalore.

EDIT:Also you are asking for a car that is easier to drive on narrow streets which means tight corners, therefore requiring small turning radius. Also i20 and Punto and Polo are as wide as Honda City. Swift Ritz and Figo are little narrower

And Swift having poor handling is a news to me. Enlighten me with some reliable sources.

Also another car coming your way is Nissan Micra.

However, it seems you are already sure upon buying a Punto, and are disagreeing with anyone who suggests otherwise, so enjoy your ride, I got nothing against you or your choice.

Don't you read that i20's Ac is nothing but crap above 40 degree temp.

Don't read that i20's steering nothing to talk about.

Do you think Punto has less equipments ? and how ?

Streets are not as narrower than your thinking is. I meant that I didn't want sedan but not a match stick also.

I see here few people behave like they are hyundai's agent.

Thats why this thread.

One of the biggest is as you all know ?

If you can't digest my buying Fiat keep away from my thread let others speak.

Please anyone wants to suggest me hyundai keep away.

I am no Hyundai agent, I dont even own one. Nor did I ever say that Punto does not have all the features. And I gave you three alternatives which where i20, Swift, Figo. I think this makes you a fiat agent to me, bcos you are not ready to accept anything other that.

Also tell me how will length of a car affect you in narrow streets? I have not experienced any driving my City, so I will get to learn some thing new from you.

You should have written in your requirements, no i20, no Polo, no Swift, no Ritz, no Figo. Then I think you would have got the answer you have been seeking

@wiiner48, These were his requirements. Tell me where is Performance hatch written

Also look into the fact that you have said no to i20, Polo, Fabia, Swift, Ritz. I think you had already decided what car you wanted before starting the thread so stop wasting our time.

Enjoy your Punto.

But guys
