PRESS RELEASE

Dodge Celebrates the Ultimate Factory Customized Viper

July 1, 2010 , Auburn Hills, Mich.

Dodge Brand President and CEO Ralph Gilles (right) and plant manager Shelly Brown Gordon (third from right) welcomed more than 400 hundred loyal Viper owners at the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit today to present the ultimate factory customized 2010 Dodge Viper coupe to proud new owner D'Ann Rauh (second from right). Rauh and her husband Wayne from Arp, Texas, own more than 40 Dodge Vipers - the largest personal collection of Vipers in the world.

A member of the Mid-South Viper Club of America, D'Ann Rauh worked exclusively with the Dodge Design team to select the personal touches she wanted on her car. The custom bronzed gold exterior paint was supplied by House of Kolor. The custom interior features various leather appointments, which were crafted by Tony Spampinito from Venzano, who has worked with the Rauhs on previous Viper projects.

Bob Soroka, from Chrysler Group LLC's Street and Racing Technology team, airbrushed layouts of Viper-significant race tracks into the custom-painted copper stripes applied by Prefix. The five-spoke forged-aluminum wheels are custom painted in dark graphite.

Members from both the Motor City Viper Club and the Viper Club of America participated in the celebration.

Rauh's Viper is the last of the current-generation Vipers built at the plant. Dodge has created more special-edition Viper models for the 2010 model year than all other model years combined. Production on the Dodge Viper started in 1992.

Why the hell could they not paint the last ever Viper(in the current design) in a better colour? This one looks hideous!

"D'Ann Rauh worked exclusively with the Dodge Design team to select the personal touches she wanted on her car."

Seems to say she wanted this color. Who are we to argue ?

BTW, I think the muscle car era is ending. Really great driving sports cars will all be electric in 10 years. Wish it was 10 years ago.

Yup, the gold painted Viper looks pathetic and with those slats on the hood it looks even more bad. The Viper looks great in the classic red above and the other paint is the blue. And like the others here, I too don't want the muscle car era to end.

I am eagerly waiting for the electric automatic era to take over.
Muscle cars: RIP

Indeed. Oil burning has done enough damage - no need to glamourize it ...

Interesting story. Henrik Fisker decided to start his EV company after Monaco's prince told him he wouldn't be photographed with an ICE car. ICE cars he knew were as cool as CRT monitors.

Internal combustion engines are different from EV. Different stories. Damage done by ICE engines or No. Chapter closed.

It's almost as if EV lovers get sadistic pleasure out of owning a battery ! Just imagine the EV era. No oil change, no fuel filling, no oil and fuel filters, no additives, no torque steer, no exhaust sound, no petrol smell..... Just a motor running on DC.... SIGH smiley21.gif

@SG

I had a debate about this with Speed last year or so. The best example about the environmental damage caused by the electric batteries is the Toyota Prius. It is considered to be this gift from gods send to earth to save mother nature but in acctuality it is extremely harmful.

The whole process involved in making these batteries is ridiculous. These articles explains it in detail.

Apparently the Reva's DC motor and battery setup should and must be replaced with a new one one every 4 years OR earlier than that if it fails. Sounds simple, until you find out the price. Rs 50,000/- ONLY...

@vr.46: How about the environment damage in battery manufacture and disposal. Also' date=' cost and hassle of battery replacement say every four years. [/quote']

Lithium batteries are highly recycleable.

Anyway, how can you even compare the death & destruction associated with drilling, refining, piping, shipping and buring on a continous basis ? Battery is needed once in ten years after which it can be used to store electricity from renewable power generators like PV or wind. Finally it can be recycled almost completely.

Even all the interior materials like dashboard & seat plastic in Nissan Leaf is made out of recycled materials.

The abnoxious polution of oil burning causes countless deaths every year. Add to that the cost of all the oil wars.

That report has been debunked a thousand times. You should remember that in the US a whole industry exists that finds ways to rape the environment for personal benefit. Environment has been so thoroughly politiced that you have to be careful reading any of the reports that come out of some of the US sources ...

Search for "hummer prius debunked". For eg ...
