CNG option for Diesel Engines

Recommended Posts

A diesel will take far more work.

i. The compression will have to be drastically lowered from about 18:1 to max. 9:1.

ii. Ignition circuits will have to be added.

iii. Some throttle on the air intake may be necessary.

So while a petrol engine is a 'natural' candidate a diesel is not.

Heard sometime back in News from some Tata or Piaggio India official(either of them) that Both Petrol & Diesel engines can be converted into CNG powered one.

But Its not beneficial to convert Small/Not so large-Engined Diesel engined into CNG-fuelled one, untill you're an Enviornment Concious Taxi Operator of a Metro city or other exceptions being Intra-City Buses & 3-Wheelers & this Conversion will also reduce its Engine's Life-Span Drastically.

IMO, for Scorpio it would be a deal of More Loss than Savings alone.
