Hey there guys!

Just got my Alto K10. Silver. Vxi.

Nothing much to write, all done n discussed.

Only thing -- Man, this thing can run fast. Going truely by the high power-to-weight ratio, the car is a cheetah! Just release the clutch and press the gas, zoooom.

Me- too lazy to write a full-on ownership report. But surely I'lll keep posting pix!!

@driftpunk: 1) How good the brakes are? 2) Has the steering been made a little heavier? 3) Are the tyres up to it or do they break traction when you power on thru' the corners.

And don't tell me the good Ol' Zen was also similar. The answer to that from me would be: "That was then and this is now": times have changed.

You'd have to brake early as the stopping distance would be substantially more than your ABS equipped Honda City.

Thank You everyone once again!

@asethi -- I'm too lazy to write up a full report. But will keep posting updates over here.

@DD

1. The brakes are decent and are performing much better than I had thought.

2. The steering is not heavier. It is light as a feather. I feel a bit uncomfy on the highway due to its lightness. For city driving, the engine and power steering are perfect.

3. The tyres...ummmm... havent tried much yet but they perform fine. Although I have not braked hard enough like the ABS conditions but ofcourse the stopping distance will be more! I was talking to Doc Nishu about my speculation about the brakes being weak but he assured me that they would be fine. And yes, they actually were better than I had expected. (all this before the car delivery).

Update - 17th August 2o1o

Got Lenzo alloy rims, - Rs.12500

Pioneer Double Din Music System, 400 W speakers (Pioneer) - Rs.13000

Windtone Horn - Rs.760

Didnt go in for filming as I wanted to go for more than the allowed and will get it done after Registration as during the registration inspection they can put objection.

Will put up the pics after getting the filming done!

The service is at 1000 km/1 month. I guess another 7 days and 1000 km is done! Haha! But what is surprising is that the first oil change is at 10,000 km. I feel that the first oil change should be done at an earlier time.

3 days of ownership

Fuel filled = 32.67 L ( Rs. 1700 ) + 5 L ( Company ) = 37.67 L

Distance covered ~ 350 km ( 33% city driving, rest highway)

Fuel indicator showing half tank.

Sedate driving ~ 80 kmph (highway) and 50 kmph (city)

Engine -- Growling engine!! Like a mighty tiger!!!

A.C. -- Superb! Something more than what we call a chiller.

Speedometer n Tachometer - Sporty (a nice upgrade from the previous one)

Gearbox n gear shifting -- Hard. (maybe 'cuz its new, definitely needs softening).

Packing of the interiors = Neat.

-Drifty.

I guess you mean "Lenso" ??

How are the windtone sounding ? Did you get a relay ?

No, the first oil change will be at the first free service. Then every 10000km. There is a page in the manual which describes all periodic parts change and the interval.

If you care, get Castrol Magnatec from the very first service. Do not let this pocket rocket digest the old API graded oils as provided by maruti.

Yes I mean Lenso.

The windtone horn is mind-blowing. The truck-wala's also pay a lot of attention to a single push on the horn. :)

They are really LOUD.

Yes I got a relay fitted along them.

I will checkup in the service booklet and confirm the oil change interval. I know it is 10000 km, but the first oil change is still something i'm unsure about.

A glimpse of the alloy rims!

That's really a Neat Review..

Even the Upgrades you've opted also seems to be Stand-out, Alloys are fine too.

& from the Alloy pic, what i see is the Inner Drum Silver painted !

have you got them painted after delivery ??

Do post the pics of the ICE too..

That's a nice set of alloys, how much did they cost?

Also, did you compare A-Star with Alto while selecting? Im asking this because I was in Maruti showroom yesterday & TD'ed A-Star exhaustively.

Found it to be a good City car with ample passenger room up-front.

Drive, ride & handling were also good. A-Star is a safer car too than Alto.

With ~35K discounts, its not much expensive than Alto.

@drifty

Nice "bling bling" alloys. But take care so that they dont get chipped or scratched. Full chromes looks horrible when scratched.

Did you upgrade the tyres ? I can see MRFs !!

@BornFree:

Astar is still a better package. Improvements over Alto K10 includes

1. Even better suspension

2. Nice short and accurate gearshift

3. Better rubber even for the LXi

4. Front passenger space.

5. Headroom.

But against

1. Rear visibility

2. Boot space

3. Poor headlamps

4. Bad plastics in front.

Thank You everyone!! :)

-Doc Nishu -- Yes I got the inner part chrome-sprayed. Cost me around Rs. 500. But worth it! Although I know it will not last much time! The ICE pics are coming up.

-BF -- The alloys cost me Rs.12500. Yes I had gone in for an exhaustive comparo with A-Star but finally Alto won it.

The A-star ousted the Alto K10 only in terms of safety (ABS, Airbags, etc). And all those features were available in the upper model of the A-Star. Not in the lower models. The Alto K10 being a new entrant and being a tempting upgrade from the previous Alto was something that none of us could refrain from. Primarily we are going to use it for city driving purpose, have to take it to college for just 3 months and then all city driving. Already have City I-vtec for longer drives. Personally we felt that A-Star dashboard was very uppish and taking the city driving perspective, Alto had better visibility in the front. Also the back seats are cramped. I know the Alto does not differ much but it feels more spacious probably cuz of its design. The rear visibility was also an issue (city driving). And another thing is that we get the top model of Alto K10 but the base model of A-Star. Drive and Handling are equal but I'd say Alto handles better in city. Then another factor was that the car was a new one and its a craze to buy a new market entrant. Dont exactly remember the headroom in A-Star. But the biggest factor which influenced the decision was personal liking. :) .

-sb_alto -- Yea buddy. The alloys definitely demand good care. I take care while driving to slow down as much as I can when going through a bad stretch. No tyre upgrade. These are the stock tyres. Just the rims have been exchanged.
