LML NV 4-Stroke: Test Driven

Recommended Posts

Driven Recently is the LML's All-New 150cc NV 4-Stroke Geared Scooter.

LML-NV-4-Strok.jpg

Looks:

Based on Original Vespa Series Italian Scooters, this Scooter still looks Fresh & Handsome with Very Good Paint finish & Well put-in Body panels.

In Short much better than Chetaks & Eternos.

Beautifying featurs include;

-Attractive Body Graphics.

-New Sharper Nose Panel.

-Smart Rear Tail-lamp.

-Stylish Wheel Caps.

Engine & Gearbox:

As per LML, Its 150cc 4-Stroke engine is All-New & developed with Daelim Motors of Korea. Earlier this engine was meant & manufactured for Export Markets only & with due effect of BS-III norms for 2-Wheelers across the country from this April2010 this engine Appeared on Indian NVs too.

LML is claiming of Exporting 12,000 Scooters/month to Other countries also with this Engine.

Now coming to the main point, This 4-Stroke version is only available in Kick-Start version & In reality its very Convenient, Easy to Operate & engine comes into life with just Half of its way.

& Then the Surprise begins, its engine settles into a very Refined(barely Audible & Vibe-free) Idle. Revving it further by a Excellently Comfortable Right side Hand grip is just a Breeze & its sounds purely in a Thumpy manner & in a very Refined manner till the full Revs like a Honda, nothing short of it.

It comes with 4-Speed manual Gearbox. Shifts are actuated by Slick sh*ting Left sided Gear grip.

On Road Performance:

With Honda like Refined engine, Slick shifting Gearbox, Comfortable Seat  & Driving position driving it is quite an Interesting job. With its balanced Bodystyle(engine on On side & Spare wheel on another) it rides well on Broke paths of Road sections too.

New-LML-NV.jpg

Ride is l'll bit Bumpy due to Scooter's shorter Wheelbase & Small diameter Wheels but not Unsettled one, thanks to Well Sorted Suspension bits.

LML claims FE of 60kmpl for City & 70kmpl for its Highway driving at decent speeds, while the Max reported as per ARAI figures is 86kmpl.

Other Comfort Oriented bits:

For a Economy Scooter segment are;

-Fuel Gauge.

-Slim & Practical Front Glovebox.

-Spare Wheel.

-Cushioned Seat Backrest.

-Full face Helmet Lock.

-Lockable Engine & Spare wheel sections.

With its Ex-Showroom Price of Rs.45,500 in Punjab reigon it seems to be a Decent buy or a better Alternative to Motorcyclists who don't wants to let themselves dirty like a Road on a Rainy Season from the Mud Splashes or who wanting the Convenience of a Spare-Wheel all the time.

Thats good news Dr Nishu. The old company starts to roll out a newer version on a low key note. Lets hope the company gathers steam and does well. They have broken up with Piaggio and hence this must be their  effort with Daelim to develop the four stroke version.

LMLs are always reliable & fun to ride machines. In two stroke era it was a proven scooter (having better pick up than 100 CC bikes and fantastic handling & control).

But now the geared scooters are out of fashion (trend). Honda has totally changed the market scenario by stunning ACTIVA. LML SHOULD INTRODUCE GEAR LESS SCOOTER. This time is not for market research. It is clear for gear less scooter.

There is no noticeable change in exterior. All features were introduced in LML star/ star express & select.

BTW any website of LML?

Exactly vr..

LML re-entered the 2-wheeler market again with 2-Stroke NV Scooter almost One & a half years back.

But they've launched this 4-stroke scooter 4-6months back due to BS-III emissions for 2-wheelers

But Surprisingly they've managed their 2-stroke scooters later on to meet BS-III norms' date=' with the Adoption of;

-Larger Ignition Coil & CDI unit.

-Optimum Carburetter tuning &

-Secondary Air Injection System into its Exhaust pipe near the Catalytic converter, as See in the pic as Chrome piping below,

This 2-Stroke Scooter is available in Market in 2 variants-Kick Start & Electric Start ones & are priced at Rs.40,500 Onwards.

These 2-Stroke scooters are Ideal for Congested City traffic usage & for Rough-tough driving, especially in areas having Extremes of tempratures, as they don't need Proper Warming-up session like 4-stroke vehicles & don't need Regular topping-up of Engine Oils.

Anyways, LML is also coming up with 125cc Gearless scooter soon, which was Signed & developed with Piaggio before their sepration.

A Series of Motorcycles developed with Daelim motors of Korea is also on the cards soon.
