creativebala 178 Report post Posted December 29, 2010 Tata Marina CS requires no major modification barring the body shell. It would cost marinally more than Indigo CS and can share components with Marina too. This would make it look good, cheap and give ample boot space too. Plonk in an MJD as option, you got a very good car. IMHO, this would be the best looking car in old Indica's platform 'n can call it a Mini Crossover. By doing this, Tata can prolong old Indica platform's life, avoid Vista becoming yellow board, also come out with a new breed of vehicle. This would make the Marina CS the best option for taxi as it will have more space and cheaper than logan.creativebala2010-12-29 10:38:
sgiitk 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2010 Very good question? I wish the Indigo CS comes with the FIAT engine asap.
creativebala 178 Report post Posted December 29, 2010 Small change to it's nose( or even to it's bonnet cover) and slight tyre upsizing with some side skirts would give us a mini SUV too. Tata would have a sure winner in its hand by doing this.creativebala2010-12-29 11:00:
dcarlover 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2010 huh?? estate are meant to be spacious and theres no point in launch shorter version of it!!!
anjan_c2007 1 Report post Posted December 29, 2010 It will essentially become a Indica Vista with some more space beyond the rear seat. But it makes business sense nevertheless. After all it can also among others compete with the Maruti Omni as many traders buy it for its luggage carrying capacity.
dr_nishu 198 Report post Posted December 29, 2010 Good Speculation bala.. If bulit, It'll definitely look like slightly lowered Premier Rio, due to its Wrap-around Rear D-Pillar Glass. IMO, Probably Tata will not extend this Platfom further, as; -1stly, Its very Old now. -Its very much prone to Niggles & quite Un-Reliable, As Tata wants to move out from that Image. So they'll probably Not bank on it further. That's Why they're planning for Next gen Indigo CS, i.e: Manza CS. So, Don't expect anything more than Tata Indica V2 TurboMax on this Platform from now. shanthanreddyp 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2010 If built' date=' It'll definitely look like slightly lowered Premier Rio, due to its Wrap-around Rear D-Pillar Glass. [/quote']Rather than this TATA can use this platform to create a mini SUV A.K.A Fiat Adventure (which TATA show cased in an autoshow) to counter the premier Rio by raising the Ground Clearance and also seeply raking up the AP pillar and wind shield along with the height and give it aggressive stance. IMO' date=' Probably Tata will not extend this Platfom further, as; -1stly, Its very Old now. -[/quote']This is a dated platform and needs to be scrapped. Also though this platform has give them life then, it is now spoiling the image of TATA Motors as people remember the V2 as soon a you talk of TML, which is casting its shadow on the Vista. It is also heavy and TML needs to get in new lighter platforms to stay in the fray. Vista though launched just three years back already look dated. This platform should have been scrapped two-three years ago but god knows why TML is hell bent on extending the life of these ones. Once scrapped people will forget the V2 very fast and will improve the image of brand TATA. Also the service quality survey status of TML (ORG-MARG) will move to a few positions higher. shanthanreddyp2010-12-29 16:51:
creativebala 178 Report post Posted October 10, 2011 Tata is testing a vehicle very similar to this, so we could get either a MARINA XL in a 5 seater or 8 seater avatar or a cargo 2 seater http://indianautosblog.com/2011/10/tata-indica-xl

So it looks like TATA is testing a 7 seater Indica against MSIL's Ertiga.
dr_nishu 198 Report post Posted October 11, 2011 Tata is testing a vehicle very similar to this' date=' [/quote'] Here're the Spy shots of it. (Source:IAB) IMHO, This car looks more like a Sub 4-metre version of Indigo Marina or Tata Seems to be deriving the Renault Logan MPV like something from their Old Warhorse.dr_nishu2011-10-11 09:47:
creativebala 178 Report post Posted October 11, 2011 The car should look like this IMHO, this car is going to be a super hit in Taxi market. (Indian version of London Taxi, the 25Kmpl BIG taxi) My wishlist on this car being 1. It should have the rear seats on rails so that the car could provide Best Luggage or Best Legroom or better of both. 2. Reclining rear seatscreativebala2011-10-11 20:07:
tejasmehta990 4 Report post Posted October 12, 2011 Bala the C pillar is at 90 deg in the Test vehicle so probably it may look something like Fiat Multipla . This is definitely going to be a 7 seater people mover. tejasmehta9902011-10-12 07:08:
sekardhana 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2011 After the success of Maruti Ertiga, Tata will come up with a similar model.
sarabjeet 3 Report post Posted October 12, 2011 shape doesn't matter, get a multijet engine and Manza Elan interiors and Tata will have a winner.
Crazy Doc 0 Report post Posted October 12, 2011 What Tata needs is a Tall boy hatch with diesel engine for the price of Beat petrol.
creativebala 178 Report post Posted October 12, 2011 @tejas, Look carefully at the rear ceasefire, its a dummy box to cheat others eyes. If you remember old story, Figo was tested as a sedan with a dummy box.
tejasmehta990 4 Report post Posted October 12, 2011 @creativebala, Considering lots of hatch back already in market and stiff competition in VFM as well as premium hatchback market Tata may not introduce another hatch and that to based on old Indica. On Indica platform Tata already have introduce Hatch, Sedan, Long Wheel base sedan, Compact Sedan and Station Wagon, so now the things left are CS-Station Wagon (As per your topic) and a new conept which is having lots of scope and only Maruti with Ertiga and now Tata seems to be exploring their opportunity into the same. Looking at the life cycle of Indica I feel this will a tall boy just like Multipla having unmatched space in it's segment. Whatever it will be the space will be the main selling point of this new Tata vehicle.
creativebala 178 Report post Posted October 13, 2011 The Rear creaseline is very much visible in the Spy Shot, so the dummy box to give estate like look is obvious. Even the IAB has speculated the same,

I dont think it is going to be near Ertiga at all. Though a good find by you
tejasmehta990 4 Report post Posted October 13, 2011 So basically this is Indigo XL without boot ? This possible as indicated by creativebala because Tata Motors just need to remove boot from Indigo XL. But who need such a big cabin space in a hatch ? Already current Indica's cabin space is very big. Only if Tata introduces a vehicle with some unique feature / seating arrangements and big boot space than only this new concept will work. Sstar 77 Report post Posted October 19, 2011 An ugly looking...purly for Taxi segment lovers only...I dont think this would make a significant cut into private sector.
tejasmehta990 4 Report post Posted October 19, 2011 I don't find any thing ugly but I feel if this is the same vehicle TATA is planning to launch than it will be the biggest hatch we will have with best in class cabin space. Also TATA have improved a lot since last couple of years so the level of quality in this giant hatch will be also acceptable.
creativebala 178 Report post Posted October 19, 2011 What ICB has posted is a PS Job. If you look at the Spy shot, the creaselines are a perfect lift from Indigo XL, so IMHO, the Marina CS should look like a Fastback and not like a BIG Indica.
