BMW 320D CE smoke problem not solved since 2months

Recommended Posts

A full hearted feeling of prestige and honour tempted me to buy a BMW 320D car. My wish was materialized in the month of July, 2010 and my dream car was brought to Korba, Chhattisgarh, India. I was happy for the reason that this car was the first one of this brand, in this area. I got the car insured, also under BMW secure policy.

This car started facing some problems of emitting white smoke as well as sudden drying of the coolant. On intimation, this car was called to the show room at Deutsche Motoren Pvt. Ltd, New Delhi (INDIA), on 5.12.2010. Interestingly, it may be noted that the vehicle had a running KM of only 7889 when it was taken back to the show room, for the first time, with the said problems and since I don

Firstly ,Sir please don't ever write details about chassis number , Registration number , Engine number or any private information  in a Public forum like this.

secondly , please could you post an elaborate details about problem , dealership response what did they do.

Thirdly , Please send an email to BMW - giving them the details of problem.

Lastly ,  Remember always do a PDI inspection by yourself  before buying a new car.

@hoslaag a smoke problem and an unrectified problem will not let your dealer buy the car back (Its really more complex process). Just shot some emails to german ,India BMW headquaters . Have patience ,if they don't respond to the mail then threaten the dealer for giving you a lemon.

Shoot a letter to BMW India and Germany, tell them how you have to use public transport even after buying one of their luxury beemers. You shall recieve a call from Germany within few hours.

As this is my first time using public forum for my 1st ever problem. Next time i will definetly keep this in mind.

I have written enormous complaint letters to all BMW people and even mailed to BMW Germany also. But no reponse. They are experimenting on my car. I have bought it from Deutsche Motoren, Mathura road, New Delhi, India. Problem were like the coolent is getting dry after running few kms and emitting white smoke from silencer. As i told on my complaint also that they are not showing any interest in this issue and i am located 14oo kms away from Delhi, its not possible to go and visit daily.

Please help me on that and i have sent them a legal notice also.

@hoslaaq

your car is burning your coolent. Your coolent is mixing with oil.

Best way to find out is, iff up the coolent again at BMW service centre, run the engine for 5 minz and then drain the engine oil into a contained. If you see a fluid floating, ten you need an engine overhaul.

@sarabjeet: since last two months they are having my car and they are exprimenting what they want. As this is a new car bought on 30.07.2010 so the dealer kept the car and told will repair and get back to you. But no response.

I have mailed many times in contact.india@bmw.in but no response. As i am pissed off with BMW thats why i have sent them a legal notice also. And trust me BMW has a worst after sales service. I am located far away from Delhi thats why BMW people taking this matter very lightly.

In addition to what other advising you to detect the fault, you try to get some electronic/ print media in confidence and try to give publicity to your case. Some companies learn this way. It will definately discourage their prospective buyers and they will definately respond to you.

the only reason for white smoke is that the coolent is burning. There might be cracks in the engine or gaskit needs replacement. Stand on their head and check them. Don't believe their word. Your dealer knows the problem but isn't ready to fix it as its a pricey deal

They are suggesting for a engine replacement but why we will change the engine of a new car bought on 30.07.2010 that too of BMW having secured by BMW secure insurance policy. Thats why we are demanding for money. We are fed up with them. Its like a pain in ass.

@hosala - I agree with Sarabjeet that coolant is mixing with oil .

Though members can't give a single Pill for  problems your facing, what I can suggest You is the following line of action -

1. Take back your car , and get the problem diagnosed by any independent garage which is experienced in handling Foreign cars first - its better to do it in Delhi but don't repair it there.

2. take a written statement( documentary proof) of  all the work done by authorized Dealer- Fax it to BMW , Germany , with pictures attached along with a letter from the Independent Garage - which has diagnosed the problem.

3. If this doesn't materialize give all details to Consumer Court so as to file a Case against BMW.

Have patience in this matter , I know it tough- I found sending Emails is useless , Fax is the best option to brings to attention of any person.

Since you have sent them a legal notice, I suggest you wait. The other recourse would be to write to ACI so they can feature your complaint and also talk to BMW India on your behalf and see what comes out of it. I really feel sorry for you.
