Mahindra Genio: Xylo in a Pick-up mode

Recommended Posts

They could have made the pick up much more better looking than what they have made. the front end of the xylo doesnt gel with the rest of the body. it looks like two cars fused as one. The front end looks better than the xylo and i wish mahindra should replace the xylo's front end with that of the genio.

It appears that the M&M designers want their commercial vehicles to

look more and more black from the front. The micro trucks have plenty of

these black plastics on their fronts. It had all started with the Savari

that had a fully plastic front headlight and grille console in

black. And now the Navistar range has the blackest face.

The Genio was also intentioned that way perhaps to give cheaper frontal

looks, just to distinguish these from their "classier" sibling the Xylo.

And they ultimately ended up giving better looks to the Genio. This proves that beauty need not be classy and pricey always!smiley1.gif

May I know, How many guys of you think that this Pick-up Xylo would also have done its job with Current Xylo front Grille looks than this New face, which its People mover MUV Xylo version deserves & needs urgently more.

Being a Xylo E-8 owner, I am happy to see this new iteration of Xylo.

This is a good news for all the existing Xylo owners, as more Xylo-based vehicles will be on the road, giving us more options for accessories, cheaper options in replaceables, more cheaper spares in the market and more trained workshops/ASSs.   Even the more critical parts (like engine parts etc.,) can also be now more freely and more easily available at more service points (even though one may not need them in the usual normal use).

It's great to note that Mahindras are doing really good work at what they are good at.

I would suggest our indian makers to have a look at Toyota"s Hilux and chevy"s pickups before launching someother pick-up vehicles in india@future.

Toyota HIlux( Toyota Fortuner is the concept of this Hilux/ strange truth!)

Chevrolet

Nissan(X-trail mode)

Everything is having a professional look, also a descent vehicles for families too. Two seater/Four seater are avail depend upon the customer"s need.

They could have furnished the Xylo pickup atleast with some curvacious Tail ends and back portions same like these Kings, eventhough price doesnt matter if they give us the Updated models. Otherwise Indians would prefer TATA Ace rather than Xylo pick up anyday. They collapsed the model of our xylo concept pickup-Bang-

Also which of these manufacturer - Toyota , Chevrolet , Nissan are offering a full fledge pick-up truck within the price range of 5.0L ?

M&M Genio is launched with a single view to establish as strong contender in CV segment.

There are very few takers of Pick-up vehicles as a 'Lifestyle' vehicles and even the vehicles offered in India are not offered from that point of view.

Tata Xenon from exterior looks like a proper Lifestyle Pick-up vehicle but the interiors are very cheap which is not matching with a person considering to buy such a vehicle who is expecting performance, goodies, accessories and features offered in Toyota Hilux or similar vehicles.

I think the Genio's front looks like its met with an accident and part of the nose just fell off; just see the grille doesn't even mask the radiator which is 'shining' through all that black cladding of the nose. the side profile doesn't even hide the ladder chassis and leafsprings. this looks a little better than the rolling chassis of trucks you see on roads. It's looks crude and skeletal Xenon looked much better.

It will need a extra build after buying to hide all those innards which are visible. It's probably going to undercut the Xenon by say 30-40% so the extreme cost cutting.

IMHO, why Mahindra went for a full face "plastic surgery" on Xylo's cloned brother Genio is to create a distinct identity.

An Entry level SUV(Xylo) customers might not like his SUV to have too much resemblance with a pick-up, in-turn affecting the Xylo sales.

Think Mahindra tried to create a distinct identity to the Genio, which shares many of the body parts with Xylo. And I feel Mahindra has done very well in this by scoring high on Genio styling as well as reducing the production cost by means of more plastic parts!smiley32.gif
