Yes this engine is already available in Indigo CS e-series with ARAI Certified FE of 23kmpl. Now Tata is planning to launch it in their Indica V2 hatchback with expected FE of around 24 kmpl(ARAI).

CR in CR4 refers to Common-Rail & 4 refers to 4-valves per cylinder valve configuration.

I expect it to be an all new refreshed looker.

I hope it has an all new dash board and also a bulkier front face as the Santro has received and also a better rear side profile. Nothing much from the side view but better shutting doors.

But I think FE will be higher than 25 kmpl as also reported on the auto sites.shanthanreddyp2011-02-28 09:14:47

Nothing new. Infact CR4 has sneaked in quite a while ago. It is a normal indigo with the new engine. CR4 Indigo CS is doing good numbers. Just keep your eyes open on Indigo rears. You might find one with the red badge.

Yes I have seen Indigo CS with red CR4.

Seen on ACI's website about Indica withCR4. The CR4 is called "V2 Tourbomax". The exterior has nothing new but some very unnoticeable cosmetic changes.

Indica V2 is Tata's Maruti 800 and Tata may keep it same for year and years. Just to keep it as the best VFM hatchback in terms of space and features.

Personally I feel for driving pleasure any Indica V2 is not recommended but for comfortable ride and backseat it is the best option.

That seems to be a mistake from ACI.

The CR4 is Common Rail engine Gen II.

Turbomax is Turbo charged DI engine (TDi).

There is a talk that the Indica will be replaced by the new Indica on the Dolphin platform to be out by 2012. Hope so they will develop a lighter and more sporty & s*xy looking small hatchback.

I've also seen many Indigo e-CS with CR4 badging. They're quite Nice looking with Sparkling Exteriors(especially its front).

Even today I've tried to chase it in my Alto but she smoothly zoomed past with her good acceleration.

That article was having lots of errors & was very misleading.

Tata's Diesel terminology starting from their flagship ones;

-DiCOR: Direct injection Common Rail.

-VTT DiCOR: DiCOR with Variable Turbine Turbocharger.

-Quadrajet: Jet Turbo engine with 4(quadra)Step Injection system.

-TDi: Their term TDi is basically a TD(turbodiesel) + i(intercooled), whereas VW/Skoda's TDi refers to T(turbocharged) + Di(Direct Injection).

Fibre wheel arches being removed is a good move. All Indicas have them damaged. I think the tyres are thinner now and profile has increased. So that can help ride and FE.

Only hope that it is more refined and does not sound like a bus.

Still some questions to be answered.

1. Has the NHV improved

2. Has the Refinement & handling improved

3. Does the gear shift slot well now

4. Has the Turbo lag decreased

5. Are the interior plastics now better finished

6. Do the doors close with a good thump

Only the final test-drive will break the ice. Will any one TD one ASAP?

Hope it is like the new version of the Santro over the old one.

1. NVH in previous Indica DiCOR was way better than its Turbo or NA version. So expect even better Results now.

2. Vague Steering & Wallowy handling are the charcterstics of Indica V2s.

But with 14-Inchers wheels, expect some Taut Handling behaviour, like Indica Turbo & DiCOR.

3. Will be Revealed after TD.

4. Indica DiCOR engine featured VGT/VTT(Variable Geometry/Turbine Turbo) which was having Almost Zero-Turbo lag, so expect similar or proabably better characterstic in this version.

5. Probably yes, as They are now straight lift-off from Indigo XL/e-CS.

6. Indica build Quality is always good from the beginning, than Marutis & Hyundais.

Now it seems that Indica has matured and can give a satisfying ownership experience and can become truly one of the best VFM Hatch.

Hoping that Tata has corrected most of the basic problems of Indica V2 in this new avtar.

Guys, has anyone noticed the interior pic carefully? The indica eV2 has front power window buttons in the central console as well as manual window winder in the front driver side door too!!!!!. Tata Motors needs to edit the photograph ASAP before making the brochures.O&M, The ad agency that handles Tata Motors needs to be much more careful before making these glaring mistakes.
