driftpunk
Whoa! That is a hefty sum to be paid in a lumpsum for a Petrol hatch. -Doc -- Yes, expect atleast 10k difference for the diesel version. That is damn costly. Paying half a lac rupees in advance for AMC. Worth it or not, only time will tell. True color of the Germans will be evident only some 3 to 4 years down the line when "indian" driving conditions take its toll. Absolutely. The amount of traffic is increasing day by day and so is the number of car incidents. Lets see if the German engineering can stand the test of time. ashikawa
Isn't its Rear brake Shoes are tad expensive ?? I'm wondering how much these paid services cost for Polo Diesel ?? I'm expecting Rs.40' date='000-45,000 for its AMC of 4-years, if VW India unveils this. Try to get gather some info on this please from your nearest VW dealer, ashikawa.[/quote'] Yes dr_nishu. It is little on a higher side. But the enjoyment and comfort one gets sitting in a Polo is unmatched. I thoroughly enquired about pricing of some parts , the reason stated is the difference of quality of the parts and the parts being imported ones. Secondly the AMC is available only for petrol polo 1.2 as on date but the same for Polo TDI is in pipeline and expect it to be a little higher than that of petrol, but the difference will be slight because most of the service parts are shared. The long service intervals itself speak of its quality. Expect a AMC for Polo TDI soon. ashikawa2011-05-19 07:26:
ashikawa
@DD & driftpunk : As far as upkeep/service cost is concerned, i am again posting here the comparison chart, which is already posted in some other thread.I think it will be too early to guess about its being too costly to maintain. @dr_nishu: here you can get the idea of difference between service cost of petrol and diesel variant. Mods sorry of big image, but smaller one was not clearly visible.

nand.girnar
Hi Guys, Am new around here, but found your review of the Polo - really useful! Have been planning a new car from around Oct 2011 and much like your list - finally came down to three options - Toyota Liva , VW Polo and Honda Jazz. Just when we brought it down to 2 - Honda Jazz and VW Polo - Honda has stopped bookings so we are down to just 1 - the VW Polo 1.2 Highline. My few negatives are the rear space and the music system. Am not a great music fan - but who will CDs around today!! Otherwise Polo is difficult not to fall in love with! You mentioned you got a USB music system from the dealer - what is it and did you have to pay an extra amount for it? Thats what the initial talk we had with the SA said. Can you get back as soon as possible - would really like to finish the car hunt and buying by this year end - the old trusted Maruti 800 is now like an ICU patient! sb-alto
I am not sure, but my previous searches never resulted in anything called "Castrol Magnatec Professional". I guess these are not manufactured in India. Can be imports from EU countries. You can easily go for Shell Helix ultra, Mobil 1 and Quartz 9000 energy. Also you can try Castrol edge which is far more superior to any form of Magnatec.

The imported one available in shops has "OE" branded instead of " B4" branded. And you are right Edge 5w 40 also meets VW 502 00 spec. available at around 950/-(1 ltr.) and 500(1/2 ltr.) packs in open market and is fully synthetic oil. ashikawa
It is reported on some internet forums that Diesel Highline Polo of 2012 make will come fitted with Aux input near 12V charger + RCD 310 music system with USB support and steering mounted control. Expect a price hike and no discounts.
dr_nishu
Heard of about Aux-In Input jack only, while RCD310 MS with USB outlet & Steering Audio controls is still unheard off in Highline Polo. Reverse Parking Sensors are also standard in Polo Highline variants.

Durango Dude
@Ashikawa: Nice update. I think that 19K you paid up front is starting to pay off. How long does that 19K last? Meaning how many years and services does it cover?
ashikawa
@Ashikawa: Nice update. I think that 19K you paid up front is starting to pay off. How long does that 19K last? Meaning how many years and services does it cover? Actually i have paid 34072/- for 4years/60000 kms.. The price mentioned by you is 19900/- for 3years/45000 kms. 2nd and 4rth service will be a bit costly as it includes 4 brake shoe + 4 brake pads + 4 spark plug ( costs 9k)change included in it. I am also protected by price increase of labour/oil/parts . Considering that my car is without ABS i want the braking department to work like new always. In addition i will be now paying only at 5th service means 5 years of peace of mind from the date of purchase.

Kuntal
Hi, your review was really informative. I'm new around here and also new to the VW Polo. I am planning to buy one in the next 30-40 days. I had shortlisted the i20 and polo for review but have narrowed down to polo. Primarily because of its superior performance and build quality. i20 is not even near to this german beauty. I'm haggling prices with VW dealer in Santacruz, Mumbai West. I guess that is where you your car from. Can you disclose the actual price you paid? Did you negotiate for better deals, mostly discount? Did you negotiate for accessories, I guess you managed a Kenwood stereo? What else? Did you take a loan for your vehicle? If yes, then who can provide me with the best auto loan? How much did you pay for your AMC? Is it advisable? and what does it cover? Please explain the 0% depreciation policy? I would like to talk to you if its ok with you? You can have my phone number 9867861262. Just drop an sms and will call you back. After reading your review one thing is sure that they never keep their word. Better to take commitments in writing.
