Anand Sivaraj 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2011 Skoda C-Segment Car Launch On October 7 Skoda will launch its C-segment sedan on the 7th of October, 2011. The Czech automaker recently unveiled the MissionL concept at the on going Frankfurt Motor Show. According to Autocar India Editor Hormazd Sorabjee, Skoda has decided against using the name Lauretta and plans to change the name yet again. Earlier the company was rumoured to name the C-segment sedan the Rapide. Now the mystery of the name will only be solved next month, but whatever the car is called, it looks stunning in its concept avatar. At the unveiling of the MissionL concept, the officials of Skoda have said that the MissionL Concept is 80% production ready. This means that if the MissionL will most probably look this stunning, which is something which will worry the Volkswagen Vento. The C-segment sedan from Skoda will help the company in increasing its volumes drastically as it looks to achieve its sales target of 1.5 million units per year by 2018. The Skoda design language is very evident on the MissionL, which will be positioned in the highly competitive C-segment. source:MotorBeam.com

sanjithchandran 1 Report post Posted September 17, 2011 Skoda has real match winner in its arsenal. I am sure this will be the segment leader if Skoda introduces this stylish vehicle in Vento segment.Being a big fan of Skoda styling i love this car and would like to own one in case production car looks like as is shown in the picture.Apart from 1.6 Petrol/Diesel  engines employed in Vento they should get 1.8 L engine from Laura. The better Weight to power ratio will help Rapid (Lauretta) to reach 0-100 kmph less than 7 Sec. dr_nishu 198 Report post Posted September 17, 2011 Skoda seems to be very aspirational with this car. Most of the nearby Skoda dealerships are being renovated & increased in size with the oncoming launch of this car. Seems that Skoda is on a restructuring & final settling mode after the entry of its elder brother -Volkswagen in India.

vr.46 1 Report post Posted October 7, 2011 I really like the redone Vento. Skoda has managed to make it look a little bigger than the Vento. But as VW philosophy goes, the rapid might be tuned sedately which take's some shine off this car. The polo 1.6 and fabia 1.6 are living examples of this. rameshbabu.n 6 Report post Posted October 9, 2011 @akhilg  Those snaps are not official pics of Rapid. They are nothing but television grabs of the first public appearance of Rapid at the 8th Anniversary bash of Car & Bike show (CNB) where SKODA's head had come to the show driving a Rapid. Vinayak Patankar also drove it (off the show).  The first part of those celebrations bash was telecast yesterday.
dr_nishu 198 Report post Posted October 11, 2011 Skoda Rapid World first unveling pics: Here're the Real-life pics of New Skoda Rapid, which was unveiled first in India at the 8th Anniversary of CNB-Show, hosted by SVP. (Pics:IAB) Its going to be powered by same 1.6 MPi Petrol & 1.6 TDi Diesel engines generating 105PS of power. Interiors are pretty much same as VW Vento, except Steering wheel which is a straight lift-off from Fabia. Instrument lighting, Meter dials & MID display are also going to be different, as these both are going to feature Skoda trademark Green background lighting.dr_nishu2011-10-11 10:02:
dr_nishu 198 Report post Posted October 13, 2011 Skoda Rapid to come with 105 & 103PS Diesel & Petrol engines. AT boxes on both Petrol & Diesel variants According to a new press release issued by Skoda, the Rapid sedan expected in mid-November in India sports 1.6-liter petrol and diesel engines producing an output of 103hp/105PS. The torque figures will not be similar with the diesel engine having a clear advantage. Europe, China and Russia get a different Rapid sporting the design language of the MissionL next year. Select markets get a liftback body style that was first seen on the Octavia. Measuring 4.39 meters long, 1.70 meters wide and 1.47 meters tall, the Rapid is positioned between the Fabia and Laura. Its boot volume is almost 500 liters and the release adds that Automatic transmission is offered with both engines.(IAB)

sanjithchandran 1 Report post Posted October 20, 2011 I think most of the cars available in Indian Market is technically superior and good enough to last for at least 10 years or 3L Kms even it is Maybach or Nano.90 % of first time customers will look for Strong after sale services and that is not the case with 2nd time buyers. Even well organized workshops like Carnation is better choice for Fiat and Skoda customers.

Even? well organized? workshops like Carnation is better choice for Fiat and Skoda customers.? Skoda India is on re-structuring operation now, both at its Operational & Dealer level. Dealerships & Service Centres are being upgraded to Handle higher volumes of Localized products like New Fabia & upcoming Rapid. Alongwith alot of complaints, court cases against Skoda & its dealers, now they're really improving on this area. IMHO, With their 3-years Skoda Shield programme, Skoda cars are l'll bit more affordable over corresponding VWs, as the former comes with 2 Free Services(at 15 & 30k kms) while the latter come with none. However, wouldn't this move will also downgrade the build quality of Skoda products? Also, now days since both these comanies sharing platforms and technology (specially in Indian market) then from Customer's point of view doesn't it give more value to your buy if you pick a Skoda car instead of VW? TSiVipul 0 Report post Posted October 29, 2011 Well, watched the video and downloaded it too. the first drive indicates towards a true VFM and luxurious product with some real edge...now let's see what the Rapid says in my highway test, the test which is passed by Fiat Linea T-Jet and Honda City only or Ford fiesta 1.6 may be. I hope this car will not get the front suspension from Vento.why?Because Vento always scared me while going 140+ as its seems to be wobbling or say trying to dance like a snake on the road at those speeds.
