rssh 59 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 Why are car with lots of safety features more on insurance. e.g.- Swift ZXi has 20k insurance and similar priced VDi has 14k .Why this difference . The VDi has more value in long terms then .Some one give me a good expalnation .Insurance of VDi is even lesser than VXi 15k which is 80k less/
anandch 0 Report post Posted December 20, 2007 hi ,insurance policies in india unlike the west is a flat rate decided on the ex showroom price of the vehicle.....we do not yet have premiums based on age of driver/car,which city, how long you drive, what safety features are there...etc.....in your case i think either the dealer has earned some quick bucks or the insurance guy..pls check crosscheck with a third party... sgiitk 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 Is it that after deregulation they have introduced other parameters in the Insurance calculations? In the west driver age, experience, record, location, profession profile, car accident profile, cost of repairs, etc. all come into the picture. I will be surprised if in India they are that sophisticated yet!
FuelRunGod 200 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 Its because insurance is calculated on the value of the car. The swift ZXI costs more than the VXI so the insurance also costs a little bit more. But with new norms, all this should see a change and hopefully cars that have more safety to offer should get tax soaps. FRG
rssh 59 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 How will you explain VDI insurance to be even less than LXI even if it costs ZXI equivalent.
FuelRunGod 200 Report post Posted January 1, 2008 It could be that there is a provision for diesel cars. FRG
