Well, after trying every type of vanilla available in the market,Firstly Honda City i-vtec,Honda City ZX,Ford Fiesta 1.6,Fiat Linea T-Jet and even Opel Astra etc etc etc vanilla!vanilla!!vanilla!!!..Today I came across the butterscotch!

I have been searching for a 2003 Honda City V-tec for a long time(about 14-15 months),about 5-6 cars were found but either their owners were expecting a bit too much or the car was crying for a complete overhaul. But today my search nearly has come to an end after one of my friends asked me to have a look at his cousin's Honda City. The guy is a BPO executive(in TCS),who Is the second owner of the car.

What I found in the car:-

The car was wearing black cloths, and I have all three of my cars+my bike, all wearing black,so it will be a good addition to my garage.

50k kilometers on odo.

Have been parked for six months so needed some special treatment.

Handling was really impressive and was more than what I expected.

Engine:The best point of the car,it was as sweet as I needed it to be(I feel its performance better than even the i-vtec,maybe due to lower kerb weight and comparatively shorter gear ratios, because the car was of the time when fuel prices were not sky-rocketing).

Some problems I found with the car were:-

At the time of tight turning, there was a weird sound of something striking(thak-thak-thak)from the front wheels. And since I took a test drive of about 60kms,and I did about 170kph,but as soon as the car crossed 130 the sound started coming at even slight turning and became dangeruosly audible(threatening too) at 170.

The car is still registered on the name of its first owner, who is no more and his son has shifted to Bangalore, now how to get it transferred to my name.

Maybe due to six months parking, the tyres have been hardened, hence I found them lacking the grip and brakes really were out of bite.

Maybe the silencer has retired because the exhaust was trying its best to scare me.

No ABS,no Airbags for such a wild machine!!!!The wild power need a better control and speed-shedding power too.

The list of mods I have planned:-

To get better brakes(ABS) installed in the car.

Is it advisable to install after-market ABS in the car and how much will it cost?

I have planned to get 205 section medium profile tires for the car with black alloy rims.Is it advisable to get them or any other tires wil be better?

Third is going to be a good high-flow performance exhaust+new exhaust headers for engine with high performance air intakes too.Are they advisable for this car,or the stock is better?TSiVipul2011-06-18 17:29:19

If it is a genuine car then you have a steal. I will not add ABS as an aftermarket thing, even if it is available. 205 section tyres are likely to foul up the wheel arches. The safest way will be to upsize one notch! I will say when you have this beauty do not mess around for the sake of it.

Congratulations TSiVipul for getting a Gem.

For much you've got it ??

Are you sure than it was 'Thak-thak-thak' sound not the 'kat-kat-kat' one as the latter one is due to the faulty bearing of its Front Drive differential & its expensive to Rectify it(as differential replacement is the only proper solution of it) but the former one is might be due to a worn out Strut Rubber, sounding worse due to the fact that the was standstill from last 6 months &it easily gets hardended after that & immediately breaks when comes into action.

@Nishu:

Yes that was a noise of kat-ka-kat and got it checked up,the service center told the same as you have mentioned and some XYZ(minor) problem with the front suspension was also mentioned.Rest the car is in mint condition, found the rear seat torn inside the set cover and some other signs of partying(cock-tail type) and some small signs of rattling too in the car as I took it to Dehradun(about 350km) for checking it thoroughly.

Rest the engine is brilliant like ever and fun is at its full.

Now only problem is how to get the car transferred to my name when the previous owner is no more?

Overall:The Honda A.S.C has quoted a total estimate of about 70k-80k for the complete repair of the car as there are many small problems highlighted in the car.And this has somewhat turned me off.But the price quoted by the current owner is 3.2 lacs....Help me making the decision, should I get the car and get it repaired or carry on my search for an another car?
