CYRUS43
That makes me very ineligible for driving then. ^ The above is not sensible, simply because driving is more of a sense of freedom to the above generation and I think it is at this age that you define how you will drive for the rest of your life. asethi919
@ Brn2Crz Thats a extremely impractical suggestion and pretty much as ridiculous as the one stating banning people above 60years to drive. You cant simply generalize and scrutinize a whole sect. of the population just because of a few bad apples. You can not simply take away a freedom as simple as driving. The only solution for this is to further tighten the traffic rules and enforce them properly.
TSiVipul
@Brn2Crz: Do you know what you have posted above.Just think of it,today in India about 30-40% drivers are of the 18-24 age group, and if these will be banned then I will ahve to wait 5 more years to drive!!! Yes,I favor banning people above 65 or 70 for driving, reason is simple as mentioned above, they are physically unfit(not all of them)for the current driving situations and the inputs the driving needs. And yes, these people can get chauffeurs for them. This will result in reduction in unemployment too..
Brn2Crz
Sounds good to me. Performance and medical testing for any age will meet the criteria for fitness. How about financial liability? Should everyone have mandatory insurance? Under which circumstances should a license be revoked? Driving is a priviledge, not a right.
TSiVipul
@Brn2Crz: Yes the government really need to make some strict rules for driving because roads need responsible people not the players(I am 50%)on them. Why should a person drive with an eyesight such that he can't seen 100 meters away clearly or who can't read his speedo or sign boards clearly because he is suffering from weak syesight which cannot be fulfilled by even using those bi-focal lenses? I have recently came across a case in which an old man(about 62)carrying with him 4 people in his Honda Jazz simply tailgated a stationary truck in the day time, leaving two people dead and two in a condition that is even worse then the death itself. as mentioned by Brn2Crz,roas are not a right of everyone, they needs a responsible person who is fit to handle them and their situations.TSiVipul2011-07-04 14:47:
creativebala
I am against banning Older drivers. The solution can be, monitor them frequently by checking eye sight, driving skills every 6 months. I want to drive cars till my last breath. It may be at 60 or 80 or 100, but I should not be denied the rights to drive, hope everyone here will accept it. I may be driving a Swift or City today, but when I become older, I would save much and keep spending on cars. Hussain bought his Bugatti @ around 90yrs, Ratan is still flying in Ferraris, so one should drive as long as He/Pedastrian/Other road users are safe while he is driving.creativebala2011-07-04 19:16:
TSiVipul
@Creativebala: Firstly wish the God that your last breath must not come on the steering wheel, because it will result in the last breath of many more. It is not that I am against banning the older drivers,my concept is simple as it sounds.Any person who is unfit for driving does not has the right to dive, and this problem is mostly in older people, hence I feel that govt. must decide an age after which any person's license will be canceled and he/she is not allowed to drive any more. GOLF
After reading arguments posted by our fellow members - one thing is for sure you can't have a barge pole as to who can drive or who cannot. So its better leave it to our lawmakers as they know what is best for us. TSiVipul
@Golf: Our lawmakers themselves travel in the hands of their younger drivers(even government retires the drivers at govt. jobs at the age of 60).See they too even don't believe the aged ones, then why should we?
