BonFre
Been a long time & the Forum has grown & matured. Caters to a wide audience & is an extremely helpful platform for users & members. All this while we over here have been trying hard to maintain a proper level of discipline & decorum, thus making it an ideal place for members to interact freely & in an conducive environment. Have specially created this thread for Members to post in Moderation requests, are free to discuss Moderation actions. While all this has to be done keeping in mind the sensitivities & confirming to the Board rules. This gives a chance to the members to voice their grievances, concerns if any. We will try our best to address the concerns of the Community.
creativebala
ACI stickers please. I know this is not moderation but would let Autocar hear this. There was a thread on this earlier and 100s raised voice, but nothing fruitful. Everytime I see cars with Love Car... I feel like @another request, add some more useful ecomotion. Even for the above, I feel like banging my head, but all I could do is to cry. Note from Mod: Please stick ot the topic at hand, we have separate thread for SUGGESTIONS & STICKERS. CYRUS43
With the new forum software coming soon, the issue with the emoticons will be taken care of. The stickers idea was being worked upon but then we dropped it as we had some issues. But let us stick to the topic at hand shall we guys. TSiVipul
It will feel better if there is a complain section,a totally different section or thread on the forum which is always under the observation of moderators for rising problems and their solutions can be mentioned there as well as applied too. Actually I mean to say is that we can't continuously disturb the mods for very small problems we face,so it may work having a totally different section for that and when the mods are free they can sort out problems. Well can I know about the BANNING process and its conditions as I have already been BANNED once(you remember The-Driver?)..
BonFre
Vipul, you can use this section for Complaints regarding Forum. We keep a tab on whatever is happening on the Board. Banning process is pretty srtaight forward & already mentioned on the Announcements section. Best of luck with your new ID!
winner48
Some people here dont deserve to be mods.
Crazy Doc
@winner You are right, some moderators and super license people are very arrogant. Posting pictures and links should be made simpler. Politically motivated issues should be completely banned. Crazy Doc2011-07-21 03:03:
TSiVipul
Favoring Winner and Crazy Doc: Firstly,Winner I don't completely agree with you because the people who are mods, they are because they deserve.Yes that is a different thing that they are sometimes strict, but strictness is also necessary. Now favoring you both.I'll keep my opinion: 1) There should be a system/thread where mods also do need to give the justification for their actions if demanded by the person on whome the action is taken. 2) This thread must be equal for all,no mods,no beginners,no specials-ONLY ACIans, whatever position they are on.(I have a list of questions for some Mods ready in my hand with my justifications too against the actions.) 3) If mods will be found wrong at their action then they too will have to ask pardon and take their action back(I know its tough for mods, but then for what this thread has been created by BF-for expressing our opinions).I know I am risking my membership by mentioning all this, but again-this thread is meant to express ourselves freely. 4) Imposing a ban must not be under any single mod,in fact it must need to consult the ADMIN. before it,and if everyone(I mean majority)is in favor of ban then it must be imposed. Why?Because I believe that this is the thinking difference between the members and mods,we can post something but it can be understood something else and results are disastrous for us. 5) Any ACIan must be warned once before a warning or ban via PM channel and his/her faults must be highlighted there and remedies too must be mentioned. If the person does not hear at all, then ban is a welcome. BonFre
@Crazy Doc, the 2nd & 3rd point mentioned by you is OT. We have separate dedicated threads on Suggestions. @Vipul, in certain cases the actions are openly justified, where not it should be. I for one am for total equality & practice the same Rule too. Agree the onus of responsibility is magnified on the Mods & they should also be under the perview. Regarding Ban, the real method is consultation before hand but in certain extreme cases theres hardly time for consultations. Actually Warnings are given before a formal Ban. Still in extreme cases, a Ban is directly imposed. Note from ACI: Please stick to the topic at hand, for suggestions, stickers, etc, we have separate dedicated threads. rahul1810
@vipul and crazydoc In most cases, there is a discussion in the special license board, before someone is banned. Only after that the decision is taken. Also if we see someone is banned, and we didn't see it coming, we question the mods. Rest assured, no one is banned for a small infraction. TSiVipul
@Bornfree: Its really good to see your EQUAL treatment to the whole community, but what I am talking about is as follows:- 1) Any member who has attained at least the intermediate license(I mean 50 posts)must be given the reason for the BAN,I mean to say that we must come to know why the person is BANNED,this will help us keep our content too clean and help us toke care that we too don't repeat the same mistake. I have mentioned Intermediate license because any beginner who advertises is immediately BANNED and hence they cannot reach 50 posts but any person who has done it is not an advertiser for sure...AM I RIGHT? 2) As we say in business"Some things are better hidden".I am not asking you to do anything different, but what I mean is as follows:- Mods is the second name of Power and even more Responsibility on the forum.I have said that members must be given power to ask Mods for justifications without any fear of an action, but there must be some limitations like no one must be allowed to go personal with Mods, everything must be clear and if Mods feel that limits are being crossed then they must be always free to not answer the question or query. Actually my true point is "Neither Mods nor members, none should be allowed to throw their emotional outbursts on the Forum. At last I'd like to make a humble request.I think this thread must not be visible to outer visitors to the Forum(because its totally personal to Forum members). @Rahul1810: I have already mentioned that I too understand that Mods have very big responsibility for keeping the Forum clean and smooth, but it will feel better if we can come to know the problems with us at the mean time and get them sorted out immediately.TSiVipul2011-07-21 04:09:
GOLF
Well I am satisfied with moderation in this forum but I feel criteria regarding membership for Special license should be spelt out so that other members can aspire for it. @mods - If this topic is going off topic with personal attacks please do the needful. TSiVipul
@Golf: +1 I am also with Golf in the query that the criteria for the special license should be spelt out, maybe I am the next special license holder..
asethi919
I wanted to enquire why is it not allowed to share each other's social networking information. I would like to think quite a few of us have become friends and I see no harm in sharing that info. Mainly because none of it is for commercial purposes and also does not qualify under spam. TSiVipul
@A.Sethi: I think it can also be done via PM route?
sb-alto
I do not have anything against any moderator or with any action. I just wish that they participate more in discussions and share more about their cars and experiences. Not a bad wish , what say ?
TSiVipul
@Sb Alto: You know what, this is also there in my list of questions from the Mods.Actually I really want to see their comments in the threads and expect them to be really different with some signs of leadership in them, but what happens is just opposite, there are signs of leadership but no posts. vignesh
I personally feel that the moderation on our forum is far better than many others...and yes as pointed out by the others ..I would love to see the mods particpate more in the discussions so that we could benefit from their knowledge..!! CYRUS43
Rest assured, you will certainly be seeing more participation from me. I have been unable to post as I have been out of the country and have been really really busy.
