Nissan Sunny: now launched

Recommended Posts

Can Nissan make a statement of whether its going to fight DZire-Manza territory or the City-Verna territory?

If former, this Sunny will be the best looker in its segment with good 1.5DCI will attract more customers. So Nissan has to work on its dealership right now  to attract more customers all over India.

After reading the review in latest ACI, Sunny is not short on space, looks and street cred. It will need the diesel motor to take the fight anywhere close to the established cars. Petrol only launch will meet with a dampened response. Hope it localises the 1.5 dCI motor fast and doesn't pare it too much to arrive at a price point.

The car seems incredibly impressive for the pricetag Nissan is saying it will offer. But again, considering the current times, I hope their focus is more on diesel then petrol. Atleast for the segment they are going after. Otherwise it wont be a suprise seeing buyers running away from this car to a diesel hatch or the Dzire, verito etc.

Nissan's strength would be it's interior space and diesel engine .

Overall it's looking very impressive and looks more like grown-up Dzire with more curves. Interior design also has some kind of freshness and looks better than Toyota Etios.

The exterior looks neat while the interior is filled with hard cheapy plastics. It think they are using 10 year old interior designs. This car competes with the Hyundai Accent(Verna) ,Ford Fiesta,Honda Fit(Jazz) and is essentially the price leader in the segment. The $10 K price is without AC and even radios . The model equipped with Ac,radio ,auto transmission goes for $13-14 k. But a base model accent and fiesta go for $ 13-14 k with AC,auto , radio and power accessories. Hell, the Chevy Sonic(Aveo) is going to offer even alloy wheels standard for $13 k and they all have interiors that are worlds better. Nissan over the years has been putting 2-3 k incentives on the hood which is terrible and is the only factor which makes the Versa sell.

The Toyota Etios looks like a luxury car compared to this car's interior.ragav206932011-07-30 13:10:50

Nissan is very intelligently marketing this vehicle and really it seems very impressive. Nissan is promoting a big sedan which is expected to be priced inbetween 6.50 to 8L and promoting it as a competitor of Etios , Dzire and Manza which are below Nissan's price range.

Because of promoting Nissan Sunny as competitor of Manza , Dzire and Etios it is generating more interest among people as Sunny is definitely much bigger and looks impressive than the rest.

Nissan is targeting consumer base who are looking for 'High-End' econosedan (for competing with Etios, Dzire and Manza, Ford Fiesta Classic etc...) and base variant of mid-size luxury sedan (Honda City, Vento etc...) it will also attract buyers of Toyota Altis who are looking for big sedan (from exterior dimensions point of view) .

Nissan has very intelligently identified a gap of price where there are no sedans and Sunny seems just right product within the price bracket where Nissan will introduce it i.e. between 6.50L to 8.0L.

Nissan has played the card of Big Exterior as well as interior space in Tiana but it failed may be due to Nissan could not appeal to the buyers where Honda  (read Accord) and Toyota (Camry) were very strongly performing.

Now since with Micra Nisan is recognised among many people Sunny will get the required kick start to get established in the Indian market.

Because of big size (Interior/exterior/boot) and diesel option Sunny will also appeal to the hotels, taxi operators , tour and travel industry as well as company fleets also where a comfortable car is required with good fuel economy with big boot space and also should be good looking and Nissan Sunny is rightly fitting into all the criteria.

Very intelligent move by Nissan to introduce Sunny in India. Best of Luck smiley20.gif

Just read about this car that -Its Rear legroom is even better than Mercs E-Class & In real life this thing makes much more sense than words alone as previously only Indigo XL have rivalled that parameter.

But its the Quality thing which will create all the difference for Nissan & another being the 6.50 lacs of beginning price tag.

Best of Luck Nissan..

My First Spy shot: Nissan Sunny caught undisguised on Sardar Patel Road Madhya Kailash junction twenty minutes ago. Taken with my N8. Rather than call it a spy shot I'd say my two pence to this thread.

Nissan Sunny India review

13 September 2011

This is the new Nissan Sunny and it is slated

to hit Indian showrooms by the first week of October. Expect the Sunny

to be priced somewhere between the Toyota Etios and the new Hyundai

Verna. What can you expect from it? We drove it on the East Coast Road on the outskirts of Chennai to find out.

It is based on Nissan
