Hi to all,

I own a Maruti Suzuki Swift Vdi(2009) model. The car has clocked 60,000kms till date & now I want to get a new set of tyres:

1. I want to upgrade to a bigger tyre size. I have shortlisted 185/70R14 of MRF tyres. Will it be a worthy choice?

2. I also strictly do not want to compromise with my suspension & shockers due to an inappropriate set of bigger tyres.

Kindly suggest me an appropriate size along with a suitable list of manufacturers.

Warm Regards

Old Swift, Ritz & Dzire runs on High Profile tyres usually. Their lower L & V versions runs on 165/80 R14 tyres, while the top end Z version uses 185/70 R14 tyres.

So, its advisable to opt 185/70 R14 for VDi version as it'll provide better grip & handling levels to it while using even lower profile i.e. 185/65(as its relatively lower in its Side height) will become undersized for it & hence will reduce its Ground Clearance.

So 185/70 R14 is better.

Nothing of that sort. Your ride quality might go down a bit. You will feel smaller potholes as well. Secondly you will get a minor change in speedo and odo reading.

In case you have bought the wrong size, it is better to continue with that till its life. It is not worthy to waste all that money for 5mm sidewall. There should not be any big issue with this.

I have enquired the price of bridgestone turanza's (185/70 R14) in vizag. It is said as Rs 4450/tyre for one variant and Rs 4650/tyre for another. My budget is strictly Rs 20000. Can i opt for 4 tyres and use 165/80R14 as the spare??? or Yokohama is listed as Rs 4000/tyre. The road I travel is full of bumps, speed breakers and pot holes. Pls suggest me as soon as possible as i hav to change by tommorow
