ujjawal.singh06
Hi to all, I own a Maruti Suzuki Swift Vdi(2009) model. The car has clocked 60,000kms till date & now I want to get a new set of tyres: 1. I want to upgrade to a bigger tyre size. I have shortlisted 185/70R14 of MRF tyres. Will it be a worthy choice? 2. I also strictly do not want to compromise with my suspension & shockers due to an inappropriate set of bigger tyres. Kindly suggest me an appropriate size along with a suitable list of manufacturers. Warm Regards
creativebala
The size you mentioned is OK, but not the MRF. Buy Michilin XM1+ or Conti Eco contact or Yoko A-Drive or Apollo in the given order.
sb-alto
+1 to the above suggestion. Bridgestone turanza can also be a good choice. The size you want to go for is perfect. But do get new rims, or repaint the existing one. If budget is not a problem then shift to alloys.

creativebala
@ujjawal, as sb_alto said, Bridestone is also good tyres, indeed it will last longest in the list, but it will be of hard compound, so your ride quality will be slightly affected. So, if your roads are good and you need extra 5k kms life in tyres, go for BS.
dr_nishu
Go for 185/70 R14 Bridgestone tyres. They really provide exceptional level of Grip & can easily last 35k kms, if maintained properly.
ujjawal.singh06
hi to all, I really want to inquire that in a tyre size does an aspect ratio makes a lot of difference. like instead of getting a tyre size 185/70R14, if I get 185/65R14, what difference will it make? Kindly also advise me about the Bridgestone B250'185/65R14' tyre? How long will it last?
dr_nishu
Old Swift, Ritz & Dzire runs on High Profile tyres usually. Their lower L & V versions runs on 165/80 R14 tyres, while the top end Z version uses 185/70 R14 tyres. So, its advisable to opt 185/70 R14 for VDi version as it'll provide better grip & handling levels to it while using even lower profile i.e. 185/65(as its relatively lower in its Side height) will become undersized for it & hence will reduce its Ground Clearance. So 185/70 R14 is better.
sb-alto
Do not lower side profile. That will ruin ride quality. Stick to Zxi size. Bridgestone B250 is not a good tyre. Turanza series is a lot better. If you do not get any turanza in your desired size, then shift to michelins or yokohama.
ujjawal.singh06
Hi esteemed members, Actually two days earlier, I got a new set of Bridgestone tyres having 185/65R14. Earlier I had JK tyres having 165/70R14. Now kindly tell me that after altering the width & aspect ratio, what difference will it make?
ujjawal.singh06
Kindly also advise me that if in case I ended up buying the wrong set of tyres, what should I do? or Will it up be ok if I let this set of tyres to complete their age and then I should buy a new set? Will this set ruin my car's suspension or shockers & all related stuff? Kindly help..
sb-alto
Nothing of that sort. Your ride quality might go down a bit. You will feel smaller potholes as well. Secondly you will get a minor change in speedo and odo reading. In case you have bought the wrong size, it is better to continue with that till its life. It is not worthy to waste all that money for 5mm sidewall. There should not be any big issue with this.

akankshch
I have enquired the price of bridgestone turanza's (185/70 R14) in vizag. It is said as Rs 4450/tyre for one variant and Rs 4650/tyre for another. My budget is strictly Rs 20000. Can i opt for 4 tyres and use 165/80R14 as the spare??? or Yokohama is listed as Rs 4000/tyre. The road I travel is full of bumps, speed breakers and pot holes. Pls suggest me as soon as possible as i hav to change by tommorow
