Yamaha, the famous Japanese based motorcycle manufacturer is planning
to tie-up with Mahindra 2-Wheelers to become more successful in the
150cc segment. The partnership could also help Yamaha to promote its
range of scooters that Yamaha is planning to bring to India soon. The
tie-up is mostly related to the utilization of manufacturing facilities
and marketing strategies to rival the likes of Suzuki, Honda, Bajaj and
Hero who have already have a very strong presence in that segment.

Sources close to the development have revealed that the comprehensive
discussions are still going on. Yamaha is a company with many investors
so the situation is a bit complicated and there is not going to be a
straight forward outcome soon enough. Till date, nothing has been
finalised. The talks have not reached the investment stage as of now.
Mahindra 2-Wheelers can be in equal benefit with this tie-up to re-enter
the market after its first product, the Stallio failed miserably in the
market forcing the company to withdraw the bike at one point of time.
The partnership could also result in some kind of technology sharing or
licensing agreement where either one will have the opportunity to use
its partner

Mahindra planning on some esponiage mission again? They lost a few hundred crores of their partnership with renault but in turn got a huge bargain = A CAR

With this bargain someone making rugged SUVs over night had access to how to make a car, which if they used their own R&D, im sure it would not be pleasing. If indeed this deal goes ahead and mahindra does its jugaad again, then yamaha would be at a loss.

this news sounds interesting. Guess what they would be planning together? I am sure YAMAHA would be looking to minimse their cost of production but I wonder M&M will gain anything from this.

@vr.46

Mahindra is not a trust worthy partner at all but I doubt Yamaha will fall into their trap.Yamaha doesn't need such alliances, just some good products in the gearless scooter and 125cc bike market will do wonders for the company.

+1 to Crazy Doc.

Mahindra which itself is struggling in the two wheeler market to gain a position is not at all trustworthy, especially for getting more business for a company like Yamaha.

About Yamaha, what I know is that already have some of the best products in their stable and they sells too,so what they need is just some more products, nothing else.
