my969 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2008 I'm about to pick up my Civic in a couple of days and i've noticed that some cars are shod with Bridgestones and others with Goodyears. For some reason I've been under the impression that Bridgestones are better ie. less road noise and better ride comfort. Now if they give me Goodyears can I ask them to change them to Bridgestones before delivery? Do they entertain such requests, or will I have to/ should I bargain? and play hardball? Has it worked for anyone till now? I remember when maruti didn't have any competition years ago, they had the attitude of take it or leave it. Wonder if Honda is any better. And if they don't I'll have to do it outside, which tyres would you guys recommend? Is it worth the fuss? thanks my969
Gurkha 1 Report post Posted January 4, 2008 Don't bother, get yourself Yokohama Avid or Advan and you will realize the true potential of the Civic which in stock form is an excellent handling car for a FWD. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=ADVAN+S.4.&vehicleSearch=true&partnum=145WR7ADS4&fromCompare1=yes&place=0&speed_rating=H&speed_rating=V&speed_rating=Z&speed_rating=W&speed_rating=Y&speed_rating=(Y)&minSpeedRating=H http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Yokohama&tireModel=AVID+W4S&vehicleSearch=true&partnum=145WR7W4SXL&fromCompare1=yes&place=1&speed_rating=H&speed_rating=V&speed_rating=Z&speed_rating=W&speed_rating=Y&speed_rating=(Y)&minSpeedRating=H Gurkha2008-01-04 13:20:

FuelRunGod 200 Report post Posted January 4, 2008 I agree with Gurkha here, if you want performance, there arent many like the Yokohamas. Bridgestones are good if you want tyre life. But the GIII isnt bad. FRG
Gurkha 1 Report post Posted January 4, 2008 Bridgestone is F-1 champ and makes very good tires but for passenger car tires as well as SUV tires, Yokohama is best if you are looking for high performance. The Bridgestones sold in India are striclty geared for average OEM duty.
my969 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2008 thanks for the prompt replies guys, I guess I'll try and find out if these tyres are available in Mumbai and how much they cost

Gurkha 1 Report post Posted January 5, 2008 Bear in mind these are all season Ultra high performance tires, Yokohama makes track ready summer version as well but then that would be perilious in rain. These two tires have the best balance, superb traction in wet or dry.
arpitag_111 0 Report post Posted January 7, 2008 if u want to get the tyres changed, then try to get them changed as soon as possible after taking the delivery of the vehicle so that u can get good exchange price for your stock tires,
