Hype........hype...........more hype' date=' VW hype.......eastern European VW hype. German cars are tough hype, so many hypes so they have the gall to charge Rs.9.05L for Elagance. Don't worry, they will find buyers, meanwhile I will buy a City, Cedia or Civic or Corolla or Emberra or Sonata. Some of us need some substance and quality to justify spending our hard earned money. I would also spend less and buy the Jazz or the Verna or have loads of fun with Getz CRDi. The money I will save, I will invest in some nice alloys and Yokohama rubbers and have fun.[/quote']

I second you on this. i like every cars mentioned here and the ideas too!

Why did they put 1.2lt at such high price is there 1.9TDi.

No, there isn't any 1.9TDI on the horizon in the Fabia, jus the 1.4TDI. Skoda thinks this 'sh*t' is enough for the Indians. The 1.9TDI will come later and will be priced at Rs.15 lakhs and 'harebrained *****' among us will buy that too and justify by saying they 'jus-feel-toooo-good' about the car. We are buying all that Skoda is sh*tting out literally, they wouldn't dare price the Fabia in this price bracket in the UK and elsewhere; what with the strong rupee they could have toned down the price a little.

well it isn't that bad probably better than ford fiesta 1.4 and fusion.... don't just see it as a hatchback.... see it as a car and then compare it

You may look at it from a 1000 different ways but there is no justification, whatsoever for this price. It's people like you Skoda is targetting and you are also falling prey; and Skoda India is laughing all the way to the bank.

@dd       though i am not going to buy one but i think their may be something in it which we don't know of.... something which makes it worth it's price

It's this curiousity of the affluent class that skoda's playing on, that's it's trump card. don't worry even Im curious.smiley36.gif

Well adi1991 it has got only unreliability issues faced by Europe.

Yup rssh is right , it doesnot have good reliabilty too , and also 68 BHP turbo PD diesel engine is not as peppy or refined as the swift ,i heard the Deisel fab also has 3 cyl SOHC engine which means only  6 valves , not worth at all for this heavyprice tag

Regards,

Priya

I think Skoda is cheating Indians with Fabia......I drove Fabia and it was dissapointing.........ACI mentioned the interior is of great quality.....friends i can agree to this if it was Octavia or laura...Fabia is not at all like Octavia or Laura........The quality of plastic is cheap(like ORVM adjuster knob, door lever,AC knobs) .The back is not at all comfortable. It is so vertical and it was like sitting inside a BMTC bus in Bangalore.Very dissapointed with the product. This product is priced at 7.52 for the base classic TDi version and 8.44L for the ambient.....Please friends pls dont get cheated and stay away from this FABIA..............Its not worth for that price.

One hype and myth busted, several more to go and guess what, lets see how the long term +5 year old Skodas do in India market, only then will the true evaluation come. Skoda is not putting a special engine here for Indian buyers, nor has the body been redesigned in any sense. Whatever woes the guys at myvwlemon.com suffered will be repeated in quantum due to the typical driving environment here. The only break it gets is the typical low miles put by average Indian user per annum.

i would go for Fiesta Diesel of Verna Diesel if i want to go for a diesel car.. If i want to go for petrol ,,Still i would choose Fiesta or Honda City or even Verna (Cheapest midsized car to maintain acc to AutoCar Jan08)

Where are the dyed in the wool' date=' die hard Skoda fans: Roomy and Roadangel? Probably they are off to book the first Fabia's. What do they have to say about this. Their answer would be: will give a limb to have a Skoda. Let's raise a "soda" to them, and say cheers.

I hope this is not the case of

Pawas aayi dekh ke, koyal sadhe maun;

Jab dadur vakta bhaye, hamko punche kaun.

Which translates as

When the rains come, the koyal goes quiet.

When Frogs have become singers, who cares for me.

Added: I think this a appropriate for my 500th post.

Hi All <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I am new to this forum. I need some suggestions. Currently I am having Santro and Accent VIVA petrol. I am a regular Highway driver. Due fuel deficiency in VIVA I am planning to see it out. I am much attracted by SWIFT VDI, but cannot leave behind VIVA which is a sedan and swift is a small car. I am not interested in Verna or Getz diesel. Getz I felt like, lack of braking, engine noise inside the cabin and suspension at back

pls advice is it better to go for SWIFT selling VIVA or pay more and go for Optra magnum diesel.

Thanks

Raj

LOL! East Europe has never stood for quality and VW or Skoda is the last word in quality' date=' I have owned VW and won a lawsuit against VW to get my money refunded. How many VW have you owned or have collected data on? If you are talking about racism, check the comments posted on the Mahindra Scorpio test in Australia, thats racism for you. By the way, how do you know I haven't driven a Fabia?, are you aware of my social circle or my stature or my access to various automobiles. You challegned sgiitk in the same way, its rude of you in every sene.

110bhp diesel hatch sold for less is a waste and a east Euro hype made by VW and sold for 7.5L reflect market for you. Obviously hype rather than performance is the asset of you choice. I can tell you with contention, market aside, 7.5L hatch will be a bomb and even Indians have now realized to look through the Euro marketing hype as seen by the Renault Logan flop. Are you aware about who are the global players in the automotive world. Please check again and bring the whole world to the equation, just not India. How many Fabias are sold in SE Asia or for that matter how many Golf are sold in US. There are more Hyundais sold FYI and of course, I won't even bring the Japanese in this equation.

Doesn't matter if you agree with my viewpoint, a Skoda dealer will obviously peddle his bread and butter and will also have a narrowed perspective in his/her assessment and it definitely can not be considered a fair judgement in any sense.[/quote']

I have owned a skoda octavia  for 5 months now I find the car to be satisfactory in every way. I took it to Goa over Christmas and New year had a very satisfactory drive in every respect. Previous to this I have owned only VWS with the exception of a Ford Escort, the Karmann Ghia, Golf 1, Golf 2 and have driven them to places like Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Kerela etc and not had any major trouble. I find a lot of people on this forum letting off steam without I presume backing up their statements with much or any expreience. It is easy to make ridiculous statements in an effort to boost one's ego. I agree with the fact that the dealers are spoiling the brands reputation by trying to squeeze the owners and I think the Skoda management should have tougher controls over the functioning of them. Fortunately I do not have to make use of them and I have seen the shoddy repairing that they have done on my car when it was with the previous owner.
