CarCrazyASTL 16 Report post Posted September 9, 2012 When MSI launched limited edition Wagon R Pro, it was clear that maruti is getting ready to lock horns with Hyundai & GM, by making space in werehouses for a new feighter & as expected, here is a preview of 2013 Suzuki Wagon R that made its debut in Tokyo this week: They also unveiled was a sportier edition of Wagon R called Stingray (Red one) which may not find its way into India. This new version carries it's traditional tall-boy design philosophy. The front looks new but one can easily identify it as a Wagon R. The larger headlamps are stretched back; the rectangular grill bears three thick strips and is finished in silver color. Interestingly there is no provision for fog lamps, perhaps they may be integrated in the future? On the rear, the bumper feels a little bulky making it look taller than it actually is. The tail lamps have undergone subtle changes. Coming to the interiors, the new dashboard is finished in dual tone. The steering is new and the gear knob is now mounted on the dashboard, freeing up the space between the driver and passenger seats for storage..At 3.39 metre the car is shorter than the outgoing model but the wheelbase remains same at 2.4 metre, which means there won’t be any skimping on the legroom. The 660cc 3 cylinder, petrol motor makes 52 bhp and 64 bhp in normally aspirated and turbocharged versions respectively. However, if the new Wagon R comes to India, the K10 motor powering the current Wagon R will take charge & The new Wagon R weighs between 780 Kg – 870 Kg; so it'll be adequate. Though this will be lesser than it's competition, but added FE will be it's major selling point! Do share your openions about it!
PrancingHorse 1 Report post Posted September 9, 2012 The rear 3/4th view looks nice but the front end looks plain horrible. Of course the car in the pics is kitted with skirts and nice alloys. At the moment the current Wagon R that we have looks much better though I like the interiors of this new one
CarCrazyASTL 16 Report post Posted September 9, 2012 At the moment the current Wagon R that we have looks much better. The current version is sophisticated one, while this one looks funky!
cars4life 24 Report post Posted September 9, 2012 Im sure this will come to India sooner or later maybe in another year or so. Not the best looking thing around but then in India its not just looks that matter. A good price, decent space and most important of all FE. If this criteria is met, it will surely sell well and after all it will be a Maruti
BonFre 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2012 I love this car for its superb versatility & comfort. The one showcased here takes the game forward with extremely welcome changes like placement of the gear on the dash & bigger front chairs. Central useless tunnel is done away with, don't know why other manufacturers are wasting that central tunnel space!, while striving hard to get out even an inch of space! For all practical purposes, customers will ignore design shortcomings. Guess its about time practicality overtook looks & stop churning out similar designs. I want to see some more practically designed vehicles...La Evalia comes to mind!
Sstar 77 Report post Posted September 10, 2012 To me this design make a good impression on Indian minds, specially if I noticed it correctly that rear seats are adjustables which mean we can adjust them for need for boot space. Good move by MSIL
ForzaItalia 0 Report post Posted September 10, 2012 The more Suzuki continues to "refine" this vehicle, the DLO seems to just be getting smaller and smaller. A tall boy is supposed to give the passengers a feeling of space, with bigger glass area and interior room, but with the DLO getting smaller, I doubt this vehicle will seem that comfortable from the inside. creativebala 178 Report post Posted September 10, 2012 Wow, this is going to be the cheapest 6 Seater in India. Love its utility & the red car's looks.
CarCrazyASTL 16 Report post Posted September 11, 2012 Wow, this is going to be the cheapest 6 Seater in India. Love its utility & the red car's looks. 6 Seater? It's a 4 seater! The more Suzuki continues to "refine" this vehicle, the DLO seems to just be getting smaller and smaller. A tall boy is supposed to give the passengers a feeling of space, with bigger glass area and interior room, but with the DLO getting smaller, I doubt this vehicle will seem that comfortable from the inside. Dude, what's DLO?
dr_nishu 198 Report post Posted September 11, 2012 I seriously doubt that whether this car will come to india or not ! India is already having advanced/current(same as japan) here, except of a different nose due to different powerplant inside it. Other visible changes in car pictured above includes new Swift-ised interiors. To keep the costs in check and customers interest quo alive, Maruti might spruce them up on the same theme.
