sachins
The wait is still not over !! Ford has clarified that it's not EcoSport but a special edition Figo launching on 4-Mar. So here comes another so called "special edition" car in market.
librankur
This is marking its three years since its launch in 2010.This product constitutes nearly 80% of Ford India sale. It has already been given 130 changes recently ,so what did they leave out then ? This time, auto analysts believe that the Figo is expected to feature few cosmetic changes at both interiors as well as exteriors. The exterior changes are anticipated to flaunt a rear spoiler, side skirts and new edition decals. On the other hand, interiors of 2013 Ford Figo are expected to get premium upholstery with some changes at the gear knob and centre console. Reportedly, the technical configuration of the upcoming Figo will be kept same with the 1.2 litre petrol engine churning out a maximum power of 75 bhp. The diesel guise will feature the 1.4 litre powertrain, which will belt out a maximum power of 70 bhp with a nominal torque.

sreeraj
It will be a great car if above 4 meter.
scorpionragha
Spotting of ecosport. Chennai-tindivanam road. Blue one 1 litre ecoboost petrol & white one 1.5 litre petrol. Pick up of the 1.0 litre ecoboost was excellent.
dr_nishu
It will be a great car if above 4 meter. Without rear spare tyre, it's almost 4meter, but with spare tyre mounted on its tail-gate it's nearly around 4.2 meter long.
Sstar
Without rear spare tyre, it's almost 4meter, but with spare tyre mounted on its tail-gate it's nearly around 4.2 meter long. yeah...but measurement of a car to qualify within 4 mtr does not include rear mounted wheel. Had this been a case then Quanto would also have been termed as more the 4 mtr but it is under 4 mtr. Hence, EcoSport is also counted an under 4 mtr C-SUV (Compact-SUV). Hersch
Why does it take forever for Ford to do anything and everything, be it launching the product or getting the spares available in the market? In today's space age, Ford still thinks that they would be able to garner publicity by holding campaigns like Urban Discoveries which are absolutely useless and a complete waste of time and money in my opinion. They should know that such campaigns do more harm than good. Firstly, its a straight invitation to negative criticism even before people have driven the vehicle as they tend to point out more negatives than positives in a stationary car which is not up for sale in the market. Secondly, it just kills the excitement surrounding the product by showcasing the product without actually launching it. The only saving grace for this vehicle can be its price which if it is above 7.5 lacs would kill the product.
librankur
If that wasn't enough that they have now invited 150 experts and media professionals from around the world to Goa next month for a global test drive , as it is can be exclusively manufactured in india for the Right hand drive markets, they would be driving the vehicle for two weeks. BonFre
Yes Ford's certainly gone way-overboard with their strategy. The excitement build up has dried up & Im no more waiting for its launch with a keen interest. Also goes on to show that the manufacturer is not confident of its product, pricing, etc.

neerajd
Yeah.. they've killed the excitement. Its the same that they did with the new Fiesta. A quick launch now will help them garner sales and take the first mover advantage for a car < 4 mtr. This is sure going to invade the Duster price range is what I personally feel. It only needs to be seen how it fares.
creativebala
Yeah.. they've killed the excitement. IMHO, they can take any time as long as its Cheap & VFM.
Sstar
it has to exceptionally VFM and practical otherwise, the kind of delay Ford has put in its lauch, will surely fade off customers. +1 It also gives negative impression in the market as well as in the people's mind that Ford is not yet 100% confident on launching EcoSport in Indian market. PrancingHorse
Finallly the variants of the EcoSport have been revealed. There will be 4 variants Ambiente, Trend, Titanium and Titanium Optional. Check out the images below for the full feature list. Interesting to note that the 1.0 Ecoboost and the 1.5 with AT will be available only in the top two variants Source of info: The Automotive India forums (theautomotiveindia.com)
photoauto
Disaster...!! Why no Ecoboost available on base trim?? The USP of Ecosport is Ecoboost engine. The prices of top two variants (which will have ecoboost engine in the bay) will surely be over 7.5lakhs. The base diesels also may cost around 6.5-7 lakhs. So even if Ford manages a shocking price tag below 6 lakh for base petrol (1.5 lit engine) it will not at all be practical. So buyable (!) ecosport will retail above 7-7.5 lakhs only. sachins
Nice info PH !! Though prices are not revealed yet but i get a feeling that TREND variant might be the one in demand. It's got all basic things required except Airbags.
lovemycar
Why to shed 7 to 11 lakh for this box of cosmetic innovations.... Better to go with Duster who is performing very well in market.. At this pricing complete hatchback segment will remain safe.. HONDA AMAZE is another good option with price savings.. We have Chevy, Maruti Alpha & Nissan SUV in Pipeline, i hope for same price range... Now its competition like Samsung & Apple. Ford Synchronization Like Apple positioning (only brand name pricing) & Other's Maruti, Nissan, Reanult, M&M Quanto positioning says(Product, Performance & Pricing)
Hersch
This product is going to be a big dud looking at the way the trims have been packaged and the expected pricing for each of the trim levels. It is hard to believe that in-spite of being present in India for over a decade, guys at Ford have still not been able to understand the market. Gawd Help Them!!! Jithesh
Now ACI has the right car to compare with the Renault Duster and I can soon see it on the cover pages of one of the future issues! The comparo of the Duster to the XUV500 was not a fair one, although both the cars share the same client base. Its a shame that the Fiesta didn't do well, being capable as it is. I hope that Ford would not do a similar mistake with the Ecosport. Watch out for the Duster, its got more SUV traits than the Ecosport and it would not be easy to ignore that! Another really interesting vehicle that is coming into the picture is Maruti's new compact SUV, which is definitely going to be some tough competition. Maruti still has some "magic" in India, which other manufacturers simply don't have as yet.

scorpionragha
Thanks to Ford for retaining their DNA of ride & handling in Ford ecosport. According to the review this mini beast is fun to drive. This one litre ecoboost engine is a treat to drive. Hope it gives a good mileage too in real world conditions. ARAI claimed mileage for ecoboost is 18.9 kmpl.
