In a recent interview, President & MD of Ford India (Joginder Singh) had said that they are all ready to scale up production of EcoSport as per market demand.

Obviously there was no clear cut answer as to what volume they expect.

:) 60,000 :) Dusters are shininig on the road.. just because of delay by Ford.... till ecosports delivery i hope this figure is going to touch  1,00,000.. better to have a car in hand than a box of innovations  ..

if the company is thinking to increase in demand just by launching it late then they ll pay heavily for this strategy..

Delay in launch and unacceptable pricing will be a backbone experiance for Eco..

Just read an article on motobeam

They say Ford is preparing for a mid life upgrade even before its launch and are open to changes as per customer demand.

Looks like its going to be a product that even FORD are not confident about or is it the other way round and they are being more approachable to its customers

Whatever the case may be Ford is finding ways to be in news.

Its almost same in size(including Spare wheel) but cabin area is small than Duster due to its 4m length.

Due to this, I have doubt on EcoSport's success as indian customers are looking for spacious yet affordable SUV. So perhaps we may not see same story of EcoSport as we heard about it in South American market.

Just learnt that in order to keep maintenance costs to a minimum , Ford EcoSport employs what they call it the CHILD PARTS manufacturing style wherein there's a division of a car's components, so that in case of a breakdown only defective parts of a component are replaced and leaving the parts in good condition as they are.

This makes a lot of sense but the amount of labour that would go into these might just be a deciding factor , i guess Ford EcoSport is being so heavily localized that its engineers even went to the local / neighborhood car garages and learnt a thing or two of JUGAAD ,

This style of manufacturing has been used by Ford for quite some time now. It basically means, sharing of some parts with multiple models being produced by Ford. It is also referred as "Common parts bin", like picking up usable bits of Fiesta for Figo and alike models.

For instance, there is much sharing between engine, mechanicals and interiors in the New Fiesta and the upcoming Ecosport.

And, I inquired about the bookings at my local dealer, to which he denied and said, only after the launch which is supposedly on 11th, this month.
