Common parts bin would be to achieve economies of scale

what i am refering to is

Child Parts which basically means Parts within parts , it may not be a right anology but this is what i can think of right now.

Assume a Fuse Box to be a complex part comprising of many parts (fuses here) and somehow something goes wrong ,(dont begin relating it to actual working of fuses and a fuse box) , you will then identify a FUSED fuse (bad part) and replace with a WORKING fuse (good part)

Here (bad part) replacement with a (good part) is what is being talked about, this is said to reduce cost, without having to replace the whole Fuse Box , replace the fuse .

Atleast i understand it that way , this is said to reduce cost.

Hoping i was able to bring my point across .

Yes, your point came across quite clear. Indeed, that will immensely help in reducing the upkeep costs of the vehicle.

;)

Now, there is so much confusion around related to launch dates and I have seen 3 different dates doing the rumours. The fun part is, nobody has a concrete/trusted source of the dates doing the news.It seems only Henry ford himself knows, when is ES hitting showrooms.. :P

I took a short spin in the diesel Ecosport yesterday. Though much cant be said from just a 10 min drive, I came away quite liking the car. It is very compact. The small dimensions are very good for urban traffic commuting. The tried and tested diesel motor is responsive as well. The steering is very light which helps weaving in and out of traffic. The spare wheel on the tail gate adds a nice touch.

Waiting to drive the EcoBoost now. But Im more interested in the Automatic dual clutch. If that makes the cut I may have one join the City in my garage

You've fallen for her already. ;)

How did you like the interior quality and room for 5, NVH in your small drive?

@SStar

Interior quality very good. Infact it is carried over from the Fiesta though I found the ORVM switches quality a bit cheap. The diesel motor is very refined and NVH is well controlled. I did not get a chance to sit in the back but if you ask me I would prefer to seat 4 people in comfort. Heck I hardly take a 5th passenger in my City lol.

If I get this it will be primarily for my Dad. I will use the car very occasionally.. My City keeps me happy :)

It is good to know that the initial response is positive.

Does anybody has some concrete info on launch dates? It seems like ages

Sounds like it is gonna be another story teller for Ford in India after Figo.

Btw...during your drive did you feel body roll (giving discomfort) as in being a tall short SUV?

It seems in all probability that launch is on 17th.

Source : Various other forums like TAI and Team-BHP.

However, there are few speculations that Ford might price the titanium diesel close to 10L, making it 11 - 11.5 OTR in different cities. IMHO, touching and going beyond this price territory with a sub 4m vehicle is going to kill it.

I have been also informed that Ford india is providing only 100 vehicles to each dealership initially. Price is said to be less than 13lakhs on road for top end diesel. Might be around 12-13 lakhs onroad for diesel top end.

Out of 100 initial vehicles 70 would be diesel. 30 includes both the 1.5 litre & 1.0 litre petrol engine.

They have received around 40 bookings so far with 10 for petrol.

Demo vehicle is expected in two days & official launch around 20th june.

Hey Doctor,

No AT for you ?

Heres some news:

Second Year in the Row 1.0L EcoBoost Engine wins International Engine of the Year award

I prefer the ecoboost engine. Its not available in AT.

Good to see the 1.0litre ecoboost engine won the award for the second time in a row.

Hello everyone, today I took test drive of the Ford ecosport, 1.5 diesel.

My impressions:

Engine:

Very very responsive,Good throttle response,Very much driveable at city speeds, had a good pick up.

Clutch:

Here is the difference between the new fiesta & ecosport, the clutch is very light better than fiesta (slightly hard).

Brakes:

Excellent, had a good bite.

Gear shift:

It is slick. accurate throws.

Steering:

Lighter than fiesta, but was responsive with very little inputs.

Ride quality:

Felt it a bit stiffer than fiesta, very flat at higher speed(80km)

Handling:

Felt to be good. but couldn't test it properly.

Cabin space:

Good space for driver & co driver, Rear space has better leg room, knee room than fiesta, but the width is tight, 3 person with very moderate built okay, but two well built person definetly only two.

Seats:

Top End titanium had leather seats, it was of acceptable quality & supportive.

NVH:

Excellent like fiesta.

Plastic quality:

Overall good, felt the door pads are of good quality(softer) than fiesta.

Boot space:

More than hatch back, but way too small when compared to Renault duster.

Infotainment system:

Very good audio quality like fiesta, but couldn't test the sync system.

Only diesel was available for test drive, waiting for the ecoboost engine test drive, the ecoboost engined car will be available before Friday this week, will test drive the engine when it's available.
